If this turns out to be a measurable and reproducible effect for most humans, online gambling and video game loot boxes just became a while lot scarier in my mind.

Yeah. Or at least your willingness to take the risk.

It can be fun making a set amount of money last as long as poss. When your recognise the fact you will lose. Given it means (at least in the 90 when I last did it) free drinks and once a free room. My ex and I had a good night for about $200.

There were only 15 participants in this study. While there might be something to it, I would wait for larger follow up study or another independent study to confirm the findings.
