I miss u/shittymorph
I remember learning about residential schools and stuff in elementary school in the 90s
Mostly through guests and fieldtrips mind you.
The 90s in BC was interesting
I love in the 90s this probably easily flew over everyone's heads because there would have only been like 3 places reviewing the game and it seems to be a missable line of dialogue. Also anyone that found it would have been talking about it in their friends group or at it's widest posting on a bbs with a couple hundred members max.
In 2024 this game get reviewed by a dozen websites this screenshot get posted before the game even releases and right wing chuds are posting about and review bombing it on steam calling it woke nonsense.
What are these sorts of games called? I used to love them and would like to find more. Like above view, characters just walking about going through doors solving mysteries but with funny dialogue?
I would say isometric adventure game
Not sure what that game is, but it looks like a point and click adventure.
It wasn't point and click, but yeah, same general idea.
Heinous
I remember renting that game back in the day and not getting very far, so I have no idea if that's an actual screenshot or not. But it should be.
Also that game was most non-triumphant, but this is a most excellent message.
We owned it (I think I still have it). It was kinda tough game. I never beat it.
From a GameFAQs guide:
"Your replies
(a) Dude, the way that we have treated Native Americans is most non- triumphant!
(b) Excellent, dude! Cowboys and Indians?! Count me in!
(aa) Dude, remember the golden rule - be excellent to each other.
(ab) Dude, violence never pays.
(ac) I just do not think that we should treate Native Americans in this most bogus way.
(ba) Before I can enlist, good captainly dude, I must find ___!
(bb) Look dude, the way that I've been treated around here, I have little interest in fighting to defend these people.
(bc) I'd love to sign up, but ___ has my pen."
Looks like it was a dialogue option with a Marshal character.
Excellent!
Bogus
