Is there a website or publication that showcases haircuts for varied head shapes?

Head shapes, or face shapes? For face shapes Google image search works fine. "Hairstyles for wide face, curly hair" "Hairstyles for heart shaped face, thin hair"

Head shape I've never considered as a factor before.

I kinda feel like after a few, it's just an ai one. They also never really have more than the one angle taken; you're lucky to get a 3/4s headshot.

Are beauty school textbooks a thing?

I was a barber, not cosmetologist, of course there are textbooks but more focus on chemistry and techniques than what style fits who - we just cut anybody's hair the way they want.

Are you looking for yourself or as a career thing? I don't know if there is a fashion advice community here. In general terms you need to consider whether you want to highlight difference or mute it. So a big round curly cut on a round face will emphasize the roundness, a cut that discourages volume, flows vertically, like a shag, will offset the roundness. On a heart shaped face, often people like to emphasize that with straight cut bangs (fringe), you would mute the shape with a style with volume at chin level.

If it's a career thing just look at lots of pictures of haircuts, you will learn, but give people what they want not what you think they should have. It's just hair, it grows back.

I'm looking for myself! I've gotten my hair mostly done at home or by friends for most of my life: I had it short for ages, and I finally grew it out maybe three years ago. I've been getting trims every few months, but I think I'm at a point where I want a proper cut the next time I go in and get it shaped into a proper style.

I figured in most cases just photos would be enough to get the style I want, but it's hard finding them πŸ˜…. I wish there was a page somewhere with multiple different styles with good references so I could browse for ideas, and show my barber what I want.

I appreciate the input! I'll keep hunting haha

I would also like an answer to this, then again, the bowl cut is back, just pop one on and cut anything showing, youβ€˜ll be stylinβ€˜
