he defers all his plannings to putin, and puts on an act so that putin would look like the reasonable one in these "talks". hes also extremely lazy thats why he rarely pushes back against people who has more wealth or power than he does.

Even if Russia subjugated the entirety of Ukraine, they still couldn't afford to stop. They've completely transitioned to a war time economy and have isolated all foreign capital.
If Putin decides to end the campaign in Ukraine, it would just mean that they're about to invade somewhere like Slovenia. They're economy couldn't handle the transition into a regular economy without imploding.
I mean, even their wartime economy is getting questionable. They're running out of old WWII tanks to refurbish, the cost of rural Siberian lives keeps going up, and revenues keep going down.

Neither of them want a ceasefire. Russia wants to take over Ukraine and Trump wants to pretend that he's always busy trying to solve the problem when he isn't going to do a single thing to stop the war. They'll keep the war going as long as possible for their own needs.
russia has to make it look like ukraine and USA is unreasonable, so they can justify thier actions more, also its meant for internal consumption as well.
Giving weapons to Ukraine is what counts as bargaining with Putin. Phonecalls don't matter.
Still none of that peace he promised day one over 100 days into his presidency.
