Soulslike - Discussion, News, Memes

This is a community for discussion, news, and memes pertaining to the video game sub-genre "soulslike".

Given Lemmy's size, the definition of soulslike may be treated relatively loosely. While games like the numerous FromSoft titles, the recent Star Wars Jedi games, Lies of P, Nioh and similar games should be the focus, games that incorporate soulslike elements - like Hollow Knight and Blasphemous, for example - may also be discussed here.

Basic Lemmy-quette applies. Additionally, since flairs don't exist yet, please do make sure to include a marker to denote what game your post is about in square brackets for clarity's sake. An example could be:

[BB] This enemy is so difficult!

or

[DS1] Anyone struggling with the gargoyles?

Those don't look like functioning eyes, but rather just adornments, engravings that give no tactical advantage (except maybe drawing attention a heavily armoured area). Instead, I always thought his eyeline might be the slit right along the bottom of the face. That'd give him a proportionate head and neck.

It's probably the most obscure DS1 knowledge I know of. Anyway, here you go, jumping hydra

That looks so silly, thanks for sharing. I have a feeling I've actually seen that before - probably in some video essay. Or is it super rare to see?

It is a consistent animation and easy to trigger, just ignore the hydra and continue forward. But I imagine most people don't know about it because most people will kill the hydra first, not to mention it's in a area that is not necessary to beat the game so anyone on a subsequent playthrough might just completely ignore that area.

You just run past him to see it. I always did it intentionally to make him kill my clams for me

Oh shit. I never noticed this.

This supports my theory that Smough is a basilisk
