President Donald Trump fired the Librarian of Congress, Carla Hayden, on Thursday, according to a copy of her termination email obtained by NBC News. In the email sent to Hayden, Trent Morse, the deputy director of presidential personnel, wrote: “On behalf of President Donald J. Trump, I am writing to inform you that your position as the Librarian of Congress is terminated effective immediately.”

On Tuesday, she sent an email to LOC staff indicating that she'd be presenting to Congress that day. She further indicated that the thrust of her presentation was going to be about "throwing open the treasure chest" (or similar) - in other words, refocusing on making the LOC and it's vast data more accessible, to the federal government and the public alike.

Two days later, unceremoniously shitcanned. It's like the fucking bastard forgot (didn't know?) there even was a Library of Congress. Dark days.
