Don't give scientists ideas, the somewhat dire wolfs are already here and all.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 days ago

Nah. They're the wish or temu version. They're just grey wolves with a couple gene edits so they look similar to dire wolves. Nothing more.

They are cats. If you see that butt wiggle, prepare to dodge.

Made me laugh a probably inappropriately loud amount in the hospital waiting room.

They can,
but only when they see the cucumber you placed behind them.

they can still leap too high for comfort though.

we've all seen the tiger attacking man on top of a elephant videos.

I dont think there is a height at all that lions would be limited to while jumping I would be comfortable with to he honest.

That's why we invented the ISS. Little known fact.

If i saw any animal leaping forward 😃12 meters, I'd shit my pants.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 6 days ago (1 children)

To be fair, they'd have to be running at full speed.

There's a Olympic record of a 8.95m jump by Mike Powell in '91, so for a much more larger and stronger *4-legged animal it's not too surprising.

You should emphasize the 4-legged more than animal. Also they're 270-570lb and ~58.8% of their body weight is skeletal muscle, highest percentage of any mammal.

People like to ignore that humans are animals too often. And honestly not great at anything if we don't have tools. Even persistence hunting requires at least water and a spear.

And honestly not great at anything if we don't have tools.

Just goes to show what an amazing evolutionary advantage we get from the combo of intelligence and dexterity. The ability to make and use tools to fit any situation makes us capable of anything other animals can do and more.

Just a rock or a knife, if you wear the animal down enough. You're probably not biting through the hide though.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I don't think I'm running any animal down.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 days ago

Not with that mindset

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 days ago

I thought about knife too but getting that close is still a good way to get injured or killed. I forgot about rock lol.
