Welcome to the flexitarian community on the Lemmy.ca Lemmy instance!

Flexitarianism is a diet similar to vegetarianism. Flexitarianism differs from veganism in that animal byproducts are allowed, and differs from both veganism and vegetarianism in that it allows for some minor flexibility in the consumption of meat products.

Reasons for following a flexitarian diet may differ from person to person. Perhaps one wants to transition from a typical diet to a vegetarian one, using flexitarianism as a means to make the transition with more ease. Perhaps one lives in an area where vegetarian or vegan substitutes are lacking, using flexitarianism to reduce meat consumption as options become available on the market. Perhaps one wants to live a vegan or vegetarian lifestyle, but uses flexitarianism as a means to combat food waste at public events.

Whatever reasoning it may be, anybody following a flexitarian diet or curious about flexitarianism is welcome to participate in this community barring a few rules:

  1. All Lemmy.ca instance rules are to be abided by at all times

  2. Be respectful to others engaging in the community. A flexitarian diet is a valid diet, and the differing reasons in following a flexitarian diet are to be embraced, not shamed.

  3. Debate between different diet types, while welcome, should be kept in a respectful manner. Personal attacks and judgements, as well as general invalidation or self-aggrandizing, are not welcome here.

More rules are likely to be added as the community, and activity within it, grows.
