This decluttering thing is getting out of control. I just threw out a bunch of perfectly good jars.
I'm out at the Ballarat botanic gardens extremely grateful for canopy shade atm. Only reason I slept last night was the aircon keeping the place from getting too hot, a good dose of melatonin, and knowing I had to be up at 6:30am today. After lunch we're just gonna chill out with air-conditioning until the sun starts going down. By the time I get to Melbourne it better not still be in the 30s :(
Tomorrow back to being safely ensconced at home
Power outlet next to the sink has shorted and keeps popping and smoking when the mains is turned on. The real estate agent's emergency electrical line won't fix it till Thursday and all other electricians called won't fix it despite us willing to pay it because we don't own the property. There's no fire extinguisher or ground fault protection so I really can't risk playing with the outlet.
I actually love how I can't get an electrician because I am a renter this is ridiculous. I'm all out of options besides either, calling more electricians until one agrees to do it, or start a fire because I want the fan on ;-;
Anyone have an suggestions?
Edit: After much electrician shopping, someone was found to do it. If something goes wrong we've been assured that we'll have to answer for it
Can you not isolate power around the sink only ?
Probably not. It depends how many circuits the place has. In a unit all the points are probably on the same one. You could turn all the outlets off and still have lights, but not a subset of outlets.
No, we have two switches. One says main and does something (not sure), and the other is unlabelled and is the main switch
Edit: picture
That fuse box is no longer legal and requires replacement. The lack of earth is also a problem that they MUST fix. VCAT asap if they push back.
Oh wait, it is?! Please send me a link to the relevant law, I'm curious now ;)
This would, imo, classify as an urgent repair. tenantsvic.org.au says:
Urgent repairs need to be done as soon as possible. If they are not done urgently you can apply to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT). It will hear your application within 2 business days. If any repairs needed are not urgent the rental provider has 14 days to get them done.
IDK if I would classify Thursday as "urgently", but VCAT won't look at anything you send them until Tuesday or Wednesday.
I'm sorry, it sucks to be a renter, I know.

The link to the repairs page, worth a read
I think we got an electrician willing to come, but it'll be out if pocket.
Honestly, I'm scared to go to VCAT as this is my first rental and I don't want to be blacklisted.
You wonβt get blacklisted for an urgent repair request. Itβs also a safety issue.
Kitchen mats washed and hung out to dessicate. I think I know now what the ants were invading for - the amount of crap that came out of them was horrific.
Actually slept well last night as I passed out from exhaustion ~~and a couple of ALDI vodka coolers.~~ Did my first water walk of the season and came back to find there's a nice cool breeze so it's actually better than yesterday.
At least the cats are revelling in the heat, though last night I was wishing I could pack us all up and go down to the new place. Alas not until May...
Currently about to watch Dune 2. Through various means I've managed to avoid ads in my life but fuck me when I see them at the cinema they are so fucking grating!
Lil ladybug clinging onto my leg for moisture at the beach. Beach is very packed and water surprisingly cool still.

Last night wasn't fun. I'd had the portable on and it was cold so I slipped on a jacket and fell asleep under a blanket... woke up sweating profusely because the cool didn't last at all.
Then this morning I was groggy and dropped a nearly full jar of instant coffee. It smashed everywhere. Luckily I have another plus had the stick vac already plugged in nearby but I vacuumed and mopped and was still finding little chunks of glass. Not a big deal for me if wearing slippers but I'm worried about little paws.
You probably already know this but reminder - you don't need fancy syrup to make homemade iced coffee/Big M. By stirring sugar and instant coffee in a very little hot water until the crystals dissolve and topping up with cold milk you avoid the gritty unsweetened taste of chucking those straight in. Ice cubes or icecream optional.
Edit: Icecream toppings also work as milk flavouring
I just bought chocolate topping to make my own thick shake.. take that Maccas.
A frozen big M/ flavoured milk is also pretty good on a day like this. A primary school canteen classic.
The coffee recipe has been chef verified.
I've done this and it does work.
Today I'm thinking about condensed milk, cold coffee and ice blocks. A la homemade Vietnamese ice coffee. Do you think it would work?
I just gotta get off the couch.
I'd put the cold coffee in a bowl of ice instead of putting the ice in the coffee.
So no ice blocks in the glass? Only in the made coffee?
Yeah I'd put condensed milk in the cup first, pour coffee on top, let that sit in the fridge till nice and cold, then serve with the cup in a bowl of ice. But this is in no way authentic. I'm just thinking about best taste & temperature.
That's kind of what I was gonna do. Condensed milk in a glass, top with cold plunger coffee, stick it in the fridge. When it's chilled adjust with milk/condensed milk. Add a couple of ice blocks.
Lol someone doesn't want me to move off the couch.
Edit: What I've done is made the coffee in the plunger. Put condensed milk in a pyrex jug topped with hot coffee. Popped it in the fridge with two wet milkshake glasses. When chilled will pour over ice cubes. Makes 2. Will report back later.π€
If booboo happens I will add Bailey's.
Moving over to Moama today. I was going to be coming home today but with that heat still sticking around I'll stay in my cheap motels with their kickass split systems thanks.
Time to shower and head off to my favourite local cafe for an eggs benny and an iced coffee before I hit the road.
