The geisha thing is a good point, never thought about that. Yes, I'd say the fantasy aspect does add to it
On one hand, there's a lot of goth clothes has a lot more skin showing, either with shorter cut bottoms or higher cut shirts or shoulders/chest showing.
On the other hand, it's prolly just cause they're women, and "goth" was an easy category to cash in on
