I am eyeing Tuxedo but also have to say I'm considering Asus. Not European, but IMHO Taiwan is less problematic than China or the US. And their track record and community are simply a lot more established.

I just wonder about warranty / repairs.
I don't know about warranty but they have an extensive parts list. I just replaced the battery on a laptop I bought 5 years or so ago from them.
Sadly this is almost certainly just a Clevo (Taiwan-based company) laptop re-branded and with maybe a few customizations. I'm not saying this is a bad choice but the EU desperately needs a laptop manufacturer, from scratch.
We had an assembler in Portugal (JP Sa Couto) that assembled Intel-only machines. They marketed the Tsunami brand, both laptop and desktop, and even had a line of computers shipping with Linux, either with Caixa Magica (then based off SUSE Linux) or Ubuntu.
They pulled such a stunt with a public tender they managed to get involved in a serious corruption case that led the company to bankrupcy. The company won the tender to supply EeePCs to schools, both ASUS branded and a local remix of the EeePC called Magalhรฃes. The shit was they trampled over the then legitimate ASUS representative here, going over their head and making a deal with another european representative of the brand. It was a veritable shit show and cost the bankrupcy of two large companies.
idk, i've not seen their designs elsewhere and they offer pretty bonkers customisation.
Most of their laptops are clevo ODMs, but they also have some clevo OEM models.

Glad to see a brand focusing on linux notebooks, but only intel / amd ? - maybe needs that big battery / fans ...?
Well what is there to choose from? Qualcomm didnโt deliver on their promised Linux supportโฆ most other SoCs are either poorly supported or pretty weak
Good to see this topic come up. Been using Linux mint for about a month and I can say i don't miss windows at all.
Also consider Tuxedo computers, linux focused and HQ'd in Germany.
Neat. I dig some of the industrial design on the thin laptops.
Gotta say, though, the "Here's how to try to fix sleep issues on Linux" blog post being right there on the front page is... telling.
Geez, if you want a non-Windows system that works right OOTB, get a Mac.

Actually that's helpful, Linux does have a bunch of sleep issues due to its hodgepodge nature.

Why do so many of their laptops have numpads? I donโt want to type with my hands offset to the left I want to type straight on, no numpad, centralised letters.
I will not buy a laptop or a keyboard without a numpad. Canโt type numbers quickly on the top row. I guess there are more like me.
Choice would be nice. Also a trackpoint.
I also want the numpads. I read somewhere that if you have a French keyboard, it is a must to have it. I donโt remember why.
The french just like numbers ok. Don't be weird about it...they do not like it when you mention it.
:)) It was a French who mentioned it. I thought there was a reason beyond just preference. Even so, people can prefer whatever they want. There are so many types of keyboards. Slimbook offers a lot of layouts. If someone wants one without the numpad, maybe should write an email snd maybe they can get it. I recently ordered a laptop from there snd I had a lot of back snd forth in the emails with them, because I needed their advice to decide. They are very helpful.
Probably because on a French keyboard you need to press Shift to access the numbers. You donโt have a direct access like qwerty.

I donโt mind numpads per say - on a desktop keyboard itโs fine, I guess. Even I personally wonโt be using them, at least they donโt get too much in the way. I can touch type numbers just fine on the top row. I donโt like to move my hands from the home row if I can help it, least of all for numeric input. And I also hate offset typing, feels like driving a car with the pedals off to one side of your seat, bad ergo.
But I guess if numpads on laptops are your thing, itโs great for you.
