I wish they would. I didn't switch to Linux to not have control over my PC.

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).
Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

You can make custom images of this with some software called BlueBuild. I base mine off of the SecureBlue project then tweak it for my needs
Basically nixOS but useful.
Ublue Is the base of the better known Bazzite distro, I use it on my desktop, and Aurora on my laptop.
Do an update, this was an error due to moving over to dnf5.

That's long overdue. Many removed it in favor of flatpaks. There were still some minor issues with flatpak. I guess those are resolved now
I don't know the reasoning, but since the uBlue main image is meant to be a sort of base template (iirc), my guess is there was a decision to downstream all of those additions, to allow child distributions to improve the build process and make their own opinionated changes.
You might try asking on the uBlue discord.
