Lemmy is the only federated service I actually enjoy using. Just missing being able to block an entire @something instead of having to block every single community of it
and no I do not want to "choose another host that does block it", it should be a user choice.
You mean an instance block? You can do that, but it's more of an instance "mute"
But I hear Piefed has real proper blocking of instances
How does that work? I just don't want to get the major nsfw and reddit reposting stuff in my feed
If you use an app it may or may not handle it properly or at all, but from the website you should be able to go-to feddit.nl/settings and the block tab and then you'll have the ability to block users, comms or whole instances from there
I say it's more of a mute because those users can still interact with your posts/comments (up/down vote, comment on) you just won't see it. It's been a highly discussed problem
Ohh like that, yeah I don't care as long as I don't see them really. Never use block features anyways, mute is enough for me. Thanks for the info!!
Hopefully theres more growth in the next days and weeks. I'm absolutely hooked to migrate from reddit to lemmy, it just feels a little lonely here for now. When the time comes, my reddit is gone..

That's when hexbear.net (part of the tankie triad) went offline because their domain expired and the domain admin was MIA. Unfortunately, they were able to reclaim it, so the graph should correct back when they start federating again
But they were still users who were active in that half-year, so even when they went offline it shouldn't have resulted in a dip

We're not without our cons though, biggest problem we have are probably the Tankies (Authoritarian "communists" who will overlook any wrong doings of China, Russia, NK because they think their governments are the "gold standard"), but here they're mostly on the Tankie Triad lemmy.ml, lemmygrad and hexbear. You have a Reddit.org account so iirc you only need to worry about .ml, but on Lemmy you can do a personal instance wide block if you'd rather just not deal with them. You would warn newcomers about the Tankie Triad too if you had repeatedly seen all the stories of "I tried Lemmy, but it just seemed like a bunch of tankies, turns out it was just because I was on .ml when I tried it again"
There's tons more that never came back and go on life thinking Lemmy is Voat 2.0. I know this because there's plenty of comments on Reddit whenever Lemmy comes up about "it's just Tankies over there"

That's pretty rude TBH, judging a user just because of what site they came from is not cool, judge them for their actions and words when they get here. Not their former site

I just deleted my 12yo account over the censorship. Reddit has become a draconian shit hole and I no longer want to be a part of it. I'm happy to be here.
Same with me. Deleted my 13-year-old account and finally joined Lemmy yesterday. I actually found an app that looks a whole lot like Relay for Reddit back in the day. So now I'm totally comfortable here.
