And so much better too

Their Curry ketchup is awesome

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

I once went to a fancy steak house and ordered potato wedges on the side

They brought us a sauciere of their "new sauce they are working on" to try out

And I swear it was literally just slightly thinned hela curry ketchup

It tasted exactly the same. Still great on wedges, tho

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

I'd order some from here just to try it but with the rate things ship to me it won't be hela fresh.

badum'tsh

Let's not use pedos in memes though.

Oliehoorn ftw.

Flying Goose Red Hot Chili Sauce is the only thing you need. Ketchup is for the weak.

Aussie "ketchup" (tomatey sauce) is more rich and less firetruck red sickly sweet.

Rosella for those interested! https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/61679 (on a meat pie)

Speaking as a veteran of the Canadian Ketchup Wars, victory is achievable!

Canada brought Heinz to it's knees in our ketchup war nearly a decade ago, you can do it too.

[โ€“] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Sadly even french's is now owned by the americans.

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

Yeah but the goal of that Ketchup War wasn't to boycott the US, just to ensure that ketchup was being produced in Canada. And it was successful as Heinz was forced to open a new plant in Canada.

Now I just get the store brand Ketchup (seems good enough to me, it's likely made in the same plant as French's) so I think the US is completely out from my Ketchup purchases. Though I'm not sure who owns that plant (it's not French's they just have a contract with that plant to make it for them) but the point is to reduce the amount of money going to the US as much as possible, and that'll do it.

Wasnโ€™t it always? I think it is a guys name, not a nationality.

The Americans boycotted it during the Iraq wars but that is just because they are stable geniuses.

Upvoted for that โ€œstable geniusesโ€ line. Perfect

It was what the Canadian market moved to for ketchup and mustard after heinz fucked over Canadian workers. Its what the above is referring to, the move to the brand of "french's" to be more pro Canadian.

I am not talking about what usa people did or did not do, just that the Canadian move to french's is now not good enough.

Want to try these, anyone seen them in UK shops?

[โ€“] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago (4 children)

You're the first British person I've met that wasn't adamant that "brown sauce" was superior and no other condiment is ever needed.

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

I'm not British and brown sauce is great, but these German ones are also great. Keeping my diet in check these days so no sauces for me though T_T

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

That statement is correct, but without an inferior sauce to compare it to you can't show other people. I'd rather not buy US for that.

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

Yes! This is the attitude I've come to expect from British people about brown sauce :P

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (3 children)

HP sauce is very available in Canada as well if that is your thing. That is the โ€œbrown sauceโ€ in the UK and it is everywhere.

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

No, HP and generic "brown sauce" are very different animals. TBH I don't much like either, preferring ketchup, but my wife will only touch HP. She won't touch no-name generic brown sauce at all.

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

Oh I know, and I've traveled so I've had brown sauce before. But condiment preferences is all about what you're used to, so I prefer ketchup. Just find it amusing how adamant British people are about the superiority of brown sauce.

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

HP is owned by Heinz/Kraft.

Daddies is as well.

I'm not going without brown sauce. Some compromises have to be made.

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

Ha yeah, ive never been a fan of brown sauce. And its nice to try something new for a change.

[โ€“] [email protected] 12 points 2 months ago

You spelt "Felix Ketchup" wrong.

[โ€“] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago

I'm a fan of Zeisner ketchup, but usually buy store brand (Boni) because my kids seem to drink it instead of dosing.

[โ€“] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Is that BBQ flavored ketchup? God, I'm so down for that.

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Isn't BBQ sauce already smoke-flavored ketchup (in most cases)?

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

Ketchup is the main component in what most people think of as BBQ sauce. There are others that are regional within the US that are vinegar-based and mustard-based (and possibly another I'm forgetting).
