Trying not to break the bank to get my first split keyboard, are Sofle Choc and Corne on keebart.com good? (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Hello keyboard enthusiasts,

So I've been postponing the purchase of my first split keyboard for a while now. I had things like the Kinesis Advantage360 on my radar, but the price is quite steep (I live in Europe, so it's around 550€), and I'm not sure it will be "the one" for me, so I would prefer to get something a bit more affordable for a start.

I've seen those two boards on keebart.com:

A few questions for everyone:

  • Does anyone have experience with this store?
  • Are those boards model generally good? I've heard that the first version of the Dactyl Manuform could actually be quite bad for some nerves (pinching the thumb nerve?), would it be the case here too?
  • Do you think that a well is necessary, or is tenting "good enough"?

A corne has been my daily driver for years now. Fully recommend.

Though I use it in a 3x5 configuration.

Same for me! However, I use it in 3x6 since German has some extra letters on the right hand that I don't want to tuck away on another layer.

Caveat: i've only dabbled a little with a dactyl manuform build

  1. Unfortunately i have no experience or knowledge of this store, so i can't help there
  2. I don't think there's anything inherently flawed about the flat thumb clusters compared to tented thumb clusters (or whatever you call the dactyl manuform's). However i think it really comes down to how you physically type (as with anything else keeb related)

For reference, i've been dailying an iris for years (w/o tenting; would like to add it at some point) and have heard no complaints from my thumb 👍
