Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey, UAE and Kuwait all condemned the 'unprovoked' Iranian attack on a U.S. base in Qatar.

Clown world.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 6 days ago

That condemnation is going to piss off their populations too. At least the ones who aren't human-trafficked foreign workers.

🇮🇷🇺🇸| New York Times: Trump has no intention of responding to Iran attack.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 6 days ago (2 children)

The State of Qatar strongly condemns the attack that targeted Al-Udeid Air Base by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. We consider this a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the State of Qatar, its airspace, international law, and the United Nations Charter. We affirm that Qatar reserves the right to respond directly in a manner equivalent with the nature and scale of this brazen aggression, in line with international law. We reassure that Qatar’s air defenses successfully thwarted the attack and intercepted the Iranian missiles. A detailed statement regarding the circumstances of the attack will be issued later by the Ministry of Defense. We also emphasize that the continuation of such escalatory military actions will undermine security and stability in the region, dragging it into situations that could have catastrophic consequences for international peace and security. We call for the immediate cessation of all military actions and for a serious return to the negotiating table and dialogue. Furthermore, the State of Qatar was one of the first countries to warn against the dangers of Israeli escalation in the region. We have consistently called for diplomatic solutions to be prioritized and have stressed the importance of good-neighborliness and avoiding escalation. We reaffirm that dialogue is the only way to overcome the current crises and ensure the security of the region and the peace of its people. The base had been evacuated earlier, following established security and precautionary measures, given the tensions in the region. All necessary steps were taken to ensure the safety of personnel at the base, including Qatari Armed Forces members, friendly forces, and others. We confirm that no injuries or human casualties resulted from the attack.

Just a very important clarification, Isn't that the risk of hosting a forign military base. If they go to war, all those bases are valid targets, and so it is incombent on the Host nation to kick them out? Like um... WHAT DO YOU EXPECT

[–] [email protected] 8 points 6 days ago

After the imperialists, I hate fascist/imperialist collaborationist the most. This Qatari collaborationist gov't scum allow the U.S. Al-Udeid base to be used in arming Israel which enables its genocide in Gaza

[–] [email protected] 6 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Qatar: "How dare Iran attack our territory!"

Also Qatar: Coordinated the attack with Iran

As always, Qatar speaks out of both sides of its mouth.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 6 days ago

This is probably lip service. They must pose as an independent sovereign nation when they are actually playing both sides.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I hate how Iran needs to act in this way because international law does not apply to the aggresors. If you're going down, at least take some motherfuckers down on your way.

I hope countries realise that having a US base in your country puts you at risk

[–] [email protected] 4 points 6 days ago (1 children)

My worry is if Qatar responds how I expect them to respond, there will be an asumption of the US still that a base in a forign nation is untouchable.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

I doubt Qatar would want to get involved in this war. Unless Iran does something to actively harm Qatar, I think the Qatari monarchy may actually think Iran is doing them a favor.

Qatar is a mixed bag. There's a Hezbollah unit inside Qatar territory. Qatar is also home to Al Jazeera, which is the main anti-Israeli newspaper in middle east. Qatar is also one of the places where people from different factions go to negotiate. It's almost the Switzerland of the middle east.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 6 days ago

Qatar not wanting to get involved really is the point. Hosting military bases for imperial adventurist foreign nations is guaranteed to put you at risk. When you're rolling in cash and bombs aren't falling on you, it's easy to forget that fact. This is a nice reminder.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

It should, not only do US bases do not provide security, they increase insecurity by desestabilizing neighbouring countries, but they also hinder economic activity by shutting down airspaces when blowback happens. On top of that, they also charge you for it!

the US military bases are the sword of damocles over the heads of the gulf monarchs.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 6 days ago

The entire US military is a mafia protection racket

[–] [email protected] 10 points 6 days ago

I hope this signals that those US bases are also flammable

Iran’s Tasnim news agency says a missile operation targeting US bases in Qatar and Iraq has begun. The operation, it said, is called “Annunciation of Victory”.

AJ

[–] [email protected] 10 points 6 days ago

🇮🇷 IRGC statement:

We targeted Al Udeid base in Qatar with a powerful and devastating missile attack as part of Operation Annunciation of Victory.

This base is the headquarters of the Air Force and the largest strategic asset of the terrorist American army in the West Asia region.

Iran will not leave any attack on its territorial integrity, sovereignty, or national security unanswered under any circumstances.

US bases and mobile military targets in the region are not a strength of this national defense, but rather a weakness.

Any repetition of evil will accelerate the collapse of the US military establishment in the region.

Repetition of evil will lead to the realization of the common aspiration of the Islamic nation and free peoples to eradicate the cancerous gland of Zion.

Cucked slave state cant show gratitude

[–] [email protected] 8 points 6 days ago

hey Qatar, fun fact you where not attacked, the land you leased to the US, for a military base, that became a valid target was attacked. You had a choice to once the bombs fell atleast tell the Americans to leave even though they would not listen. You did not do that, so um now you by your own actions put your people at risk

—❗️🇺🇸/🇮🇷 Statement by the Iranian Armed Forces:

'Noble and Resilient Nation of Iran!

Following the blatant military aggression of the criminal regime of the United States of America against the peaceful nuclear facilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the clear violation of international law, by the order of the Supreme National Security Council and the leadership of the Central Headquarters of the Rasool Al-Azam, the IRGC with the sacred code of ' Ya Aba Abdullah Al-Hussein' has targeted the Al-Udeid base in Qatar with a devastating and powerful missile attack in Operation Besharat Fatah.

This base is the headquarters of the Air Force and the largest strategic asset of the U.S. terrorist army in the West Asian region.

The message of this decisive action of the sons of the nation in the armed forces is clear and unequivocal for the White House and its allies:

The Islamic Republic of Iran, relying on God Almighty, relying on the faithful and famous people of Islamic Iran, will not leave its territorial integrity, sovereignty and national security unanswered under any circumstances.

With the aggression of the American enemy, it became clear to everyone that the evil of the Zionists was an extension of the Americans' design. Accordingly, we remind you that in this national defense, the U.S. bases and mobile military targets in the region are not a point of strength, but rather a major weakness and a thorn in the side of this warmongering regime.

On the eve of the month of Muharram, the month of mourning for the leader and commander of martyrs, Hazrat Abu Abdullah Al-Hussein (AS), we once again warn the enemies of Islamic Iran that the era of hit-and-run is over, and the will of the country's powerful people's armed forces.

Any repetition of U.S. aggression will lead to the acceleration of the collapse of the U.S. military pillars in the region, their ignominious escape from West Asia, and the realization of the common aspiration of the Islamic Ummah and the freedom-loving nations of the world in eradicating the cancerous tumor of Zion.'

[–] [email protected] 12 points 6 days ago (1 children)

At least four waves of missiles were fired at Israel from Iran today, but not many in total – about 10 or so maximum.

Having monitored these missile launches for the past week, there seems to be a slight change in tactics: less missiles but much more disruption, launched over different periods of time.

Today, raid alert sirens sounded for up to 40 minutes in parts of Israel. One damaged an electricity substation, knocking out electricity to 8,000 residents in the Ashdod port area. It’s now been restored.

And this is coming at a financial cost to Israel. According to the tax authority director, so far, 40,000 claims for compensation have been made by Israelis, totalling $1.3bn. Thirty buildings will have to be demolished.

“We’ve never seen so much damage,” says the tax director.
