Yup. It's sad how people just go along with it.

The part about people losing hope in the American dream hit hardest.

The reason why it hits hard is bc it's true. Biden took care of his own, saying essentially "screw the rest of the nation, I'm getting mine and then I'm out!".

Fareed Zakaria has a great video released today (feel free to post it btw, or I may check for duplicates and then do so in a few hours myself but not now) where he mentions how Trump's administration is moving away from the power of/for/by "democratic institutions" and towards "oligarchy serving the needs of one person and their family". I know the scale is different, and I'm speaking here to quality rather than quantity, of like kind even if not to the same degree, but when he said that - again: about Trump - the first thought that popped into my mind was Biden's pardons. Again they weren't the same degree, yet they were of the same kind, or at least it looked that way to most Americans I am sure.

At which point, why do much to fight to replace one set of oligarchs with another, different set of oligarchs, especially if the new ones will abolish Congress and perhaps make things work more smoothly in the future? (I mean, you and I know the answer to that: slavery is "why not", but we are talking the opinions of the public here, especially those least educated to spot the difference).

Adam is right: even if we somehow did have elections again 4 years from now, it won't even matter to the idea that the American Dream has already died, for most people. Replacing the current Republicans with future Democrats won't begin to change that. And they aren't sure what, if anything, will - this side of Heaven ofc, which I feel is appropriate to add since most are religious and that forms a heavy component behind the decision making process for so many Americans. But gambling might, so it's actually a cost effective plan, quite strategic in its own way, since if you don't then you'll never own a home while if you do, there's a chance, however slim, that you may?
