I met an actor who has met George Lucas and he told this story that if you talk to Lucas and immediately discuss star wars, his wife will pretend to call him over and break the conversation; but if you don't talk to him about star wars, he will go "It's okay honey, I'm good". I can only imagine he tried to ruin the originals so people would leave him alone.
