I would rather legislation is passed to claim back the abundance of empty houses sitting in London than building new ones. Too many rich people not even living here are hoarding property and it shouldn't be allowed.

I made a post about it earlier. Given some parts of London take 80% of wages in rent, and there are no council houses left (I was told I'd just get sent to a hostel in Luton if I asked), the gov needs to do something about it. Not just that, but it's part of the far right rhetoric. I told a colleague I can't get a council flat in London, and their response was "yes because the immigrants take all the social housing". No, it's because the oligarchs buy up housing for investment and a certain prime minister sold off the council properties.
