And I suddenly realized it was a large, pristine restroom with a bunch of urinals in it.
I never did fully piece together what that meant.

Who is "you" really? Are they actually distinct from "me"? Perhaps then the question is "did we really create this content?" And that one is easy. It's here, it's been created, the creator is besides the point. Now we can move on to the why's, how's and should's.
Perhaps the short story is the content and the photo is but a visual aid? Is content not content if certain bits of it aren't content?
It is, but we should be carefully sharing the likeness of people without consent.
Maybe scribble a machine elf on top of them?
It's just their astral body, which doesn't necessarily have to look like their physical body.
