Mark Warner (D-VA) harped on President Donald Trump’s national security officials after a journalist was inadvertently added to an encrypted group chat that discussed military strikes before they occurred — despite his own recent history of secret messages with a lobbyist for a Russian oligarch closely allied with Vladimir Putin getting leaked.

Using signal was pretty stupid. I think we can all agree on that.

It is, but let me also say that Signal is the messaging app that government workers are told to use for business.

Not that they should be talking about super secret stuff there or anything, but that it is used for general communications that can be work related

Really, the issue here was that they screwed up using the tool more than the tool itself.

If you were using MS teams or slack you'd still potentially have the same issue of inviting the wrong person to the group chat, especially since tools like teams are letting inside and outside organizations be more integrated.

Yep. Not quite as bad as a personal email server, but a bad choice.
