I have a large group (7 players) that I play with on the regular. My saint of a DM though needs a break to which I am happy to oblige with a one-shot or two. I'm looking for a one-shot that would be fun for them at level 5+. We're all experienced players with decent to great table etiquette so the table size only concerns me as far as difficulty is concerned. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Just did one with the family. Was a mystery-abduction tale and I ended up adding in stuff as we went to make it more interesting. I think the baddie was the Veil Keeper or something, and their lair was a time-locked village with a one-way path into it from a dark forest. Dunno what specifics you're asking for, but I can try to share more if you want.

I do want. That sounds awesome.

Here's what I remember:

Started in a sleepy town at night in a tavern. NPC comes in and says there's been another abduction.

Everyone runs out and the party joins one of the village rangers who turns out to be a regular NPC for most of the session.

The only lead for the abduction is into the forest. Once the party gets to a certain point, they have an encounter and the ranger leaves, and another NPC shows up who is the leader of the secret village i the forest. They explain that there is no way to leave their village, and they have been hunting a crystal stag (this has the secret item needed to engage the Big Boss, the Veil Keeper, who's been abducting villagers and also is the reason no one can leave the hidden forest village.

Once the party defeats the stag and goes into the Veil Keeper's fortress, they realize the ranger NPC from earlier is the Veil Keeper.

Fill in whatever else you like. I added and changed a ton as we went along to make things more interesting.
