'I warned everybody about Trump, and then I warned them that I warned them about what would get him reelected, which was stupid wokeness, which is what got him reelected,' Maher said.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Do you think that's accurate?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 days ago

I think the news media gave so much damned coverage to and amplified the MAGA/GOP fight to discriminate against trans folks it seemed like that's all anyone was talking about.

I didn't see nearly as much coverage on things that Dems were doing to help the American people. Like creating jobs and doing more than any other piece of legislation to address climate change with the Inflation Reduction Act. Getting the wealthy to pay what they owed in taxes by funding the IRS. Saving consumers billions with the Consumer Protection Bureau... And on

Instead the so-called-left corporate news media talked about how outrageous the GOP shotbags are and spent forever talking about the misnamed "woke" stuff in a brilliant move to avoid talking about climate change and the bullshit corporate takeover of government and ever worse income inequality and the ways to improve lives of all US citizens and beyond

[–] [email protected] -3 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Yes, I do. And I think Lemmy needs to come to terms with it.

It's not just Republicans that are tired of "woke policies." The election shows that. Lemmy and Reddit are just huge echo-chambers on the subject. People from both sides of the aisle are sick of the woke BS.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Can you give some specific examples of "woke BS" that Democrats pushed during the election?

[–] [email protected] -1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

If you don't know about the controversies of being "woke" or not, then there's not much I can do to help. Thanks.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Ah, so a vague boogy man to criticise the Democrats with when there's no specific complaint. Got it.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 4 days ago (1 children)

And the fucking Democrats lost against Trump. Trump of all people! Both the electoral AND the popular vote. And the Senate and the House.

You got your fucking asses handed to you. And it wasn't just Republicans who did that. You don't lose all of that unless Dems vote for Trump and/or don't vote at all because they are disgusted with the Dem party.

Did you get that, too? lmao

You guys lost all of it. All. Of. It. Got it?

Thanks, friend! :)

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I was asking about the "woke BS". What does any of your screaming and ranting here have to do with "woke BS"?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

I think you are a bit lost in the thread. This article and the quote of "woke" that I'm referring to is what Maher said. He said: "‘I warned everybody about Trump, and then I warned them that I warned them about what would get him reelected, which was stupid wokeness, which is what got him reelected,’ Maher said."

I'm not sure if you are looking for a "gotcha" moment by trying to get me to say what I feel is "woke" or not "woke." But I'm not a Republican so I'm not sure what point you're trying to make.

I think you know what kind of policies and decisions are considered "woke." And the US let you know they aren't cool with it anymore.

What I personally consider "woke" doesn't matter. I didn't vote for Trump or Harris. I voted third party, friend.

And knowing how everything turned out, I'd STILL vote third party. Happily.

Thanks! :)

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I think you know what kind of policies and decisions are considered "woke."

I really don't. You're saying the Democrats lost because of their policies of "Woke BS", and yet somehow you can't name a single one of their woke policies.
What I saw was the Democrats running on a platform of "status quo, everything is good enough, and big businesses are great" all of which is far from "woke".

It would be a lot easier for you to put me in my place by naming any "woke BS" the Democrats were running on than your paragraphs on paragraphs of avoiding the question.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Oh, I can name a lot of woke policies. If you don't know what woke means as it relates to politics, then I can't help you. Good luck, friend!

[–] [email protected] 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Oh, I can name a lot of woke policies

Okay, then do so. It would actually help a lot in letting me know what woke means as it relates to politics.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It would actually help a lot in letting me know what woke means as it relates to politics.

Again, if you don't already know that, then there's nothing I can do to help you, because that would mean you are entirely clueless.

The Dems lost the election because of the exact same attitude you are showing in this thread. LMAO

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Seems like in your 2 paragraphs there you really could have "shown me wrong" by simply naming 2 policies instead.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

It's not my job to educate you on something that everyone else seem to know about. The Dems lost the election because of the exact same attitude you are showing in this thread.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

So clearly "Woke" is just a vague boogy man term. You've wasted a ton of effort trying to avoid a straight answer, it would have been far easier to just state any "woke" policy.

I can tell the stress of avoiding it is starting to get to you too, you've stopped thanking me!

[–] [email protected] -1 points 2 days ago (2 children)

You’ve wasted a ton of effort trying to avoid a straight answer, it would have been far easier to just state any “woke” policy.

I haven't wasted anytime. I'm simply not here to help you do research. You actually do know what woke means in this context. You're just looking for someone to argue with.

The Dems lost the election because of the exact same attitude you are showing in this thread.

I can tell the stress of avoiding it is starting to get to you too, you’ve stopped thanking me!

lolol you think an ignorant lemmy conversation is stressing me out?! Say wat mate!?

You know what woke means. You know people consider woke. And you're pissed off that Trump won and now you want to argue with someone about it.

I didn't vote for Trump. I voted third party. Feel free stay mad. Woke goes broke. Thanks, friend! :) :)

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It would be impossible to have a more pathetic life than you're living right now

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago

Man, you're still really mad that you couldn't get me banned from Lemmy, huh? LMAO

I'm having a great life! I get to spend all day posting whatever I want, wherever I want. And you can't do anything to stop me! It's awesome!

Thanks, friend! :)

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Double smiley faces, you're really trying to cover up how upset you are.

You know what woke means

There is a reason you refuse to name a single woke policy the Democrats ran on. That reason is either:

  1. they did not run on any.
  2. Woke is a meaningless boogy man term.
  3. Naming the policies you don't like would make you look like a terrible person.

I know you're never going to give an answer, but just be honest with yourself as to what your reason is. My guess is it's all 3.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

I'm not upset at all. You do realize this is my community, right? I could just ban you or remove your pointless comments from this community if I were upset.

I'm just under no obligation to prove anything to you. And I know from the beginning, you have been trying to have the #3 "Gotcha" moment with me. And I said so, in the beginning.

And you're mad because I refuse to play your little game.

I didn't write the news article, friend. If you have a problem with it, you should write to the publishers of that article. Thanks! :)

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

And I know from the beginning, you have been trying to have the #3 "Gotcha" moment with me.

And if there was any other reason then "not playing my game" would have meant just giving a reasonable answer. Your continued refusal to do so proves my point and plays right into "my game".

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

would have meant just giving a reasonable answer.

I don't owe you anything. You have an agenda because you're mad that Trump won.

I didn't vote for him, friend, so go be angry somewhere else.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Of course you don't.

For someone who doesn't owe me anything you did spend a lot of time replying and trying to defend your decision to not answer a simple question though.

Seems like it would have been faster and easier to either answer the question or not bother replying.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

For someone who doesn’t owe me anything you did spend a lot of time replying and trying to defend your decision to not answer a simple question though.

Because you kept asking. So I kept replying. I know you really, really want it to look like you win this argument. But there is no argument--I'm not going to explain anything to you. Since your first response, you have wanted me to say something so you could accuse me of something.

Trump win. Democrats lost. Everything. Get over it, friend.

I didn't write the article. I just posted it. Thanks!

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I didn't write the article. I just posted it.

Why do you keep saying that? I've said nothing about the article and have been asking you specifically about the "woke BS" you were complaining about.

You sure do post a lot for some who doesn't want to say anything or be responsible for anything they post.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Why do you keep saying that?

Because this whole discussion thread is about the article. Do you realize how Lemmy forums work?

Oh wait! That's right. You don't care about the article, you're too busy trying to catch me saying something that you think shows some sort of bias, so you can scream "See? See? This guys thinks that..."

Damn, sorry I didn't give you that satisfaction. Oopsie!

You sure do post a lot for some who doesn’t want to say anything or be responsible for anything they post.

I can post anything I want, anywhere I want, anytime I want. I don't have to answer to you or explain anything to you. And you can't silence me. That's what's so great about Lemmy and the fediverse!

If you don't like it here or the articles I post, feel free to block me and/or this community, and feel free to write to the author of the article, friend.

Thanks! :)

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Did I say you can't post something? You seem to have a real chip on your shoulder, ready to have a fight defending yourself from things I've never said.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 16 hours ago

I didn't say you did. I'm just letting you know that regardless of what you think of my posts, I won't stop. Your opinion did nothing to change my mind. Not that hard to understand. Thanks! :)

[–] [email protected] 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Honesty is this bitch's kryptonite. They are absolutely a trolling loser piece of shit

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Awww, still mad you couldn't get rid of me?

I'm. Still. Here.

And you can't stop me. I didn't write the news article, friend. If you have a problem with it, you should write to the publishers of that article. Thanks! :)

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

That's an interesting position to take considering how close the election was, but I think it's also telling considering all that you said prior to Trump's election and the inconsistencies therein.

You are a contrarian. Nothing more. There's no wit or wisdom behind that.

Good luck.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

but I think it’s also telling considering all that you said prior to Trump’s election and the inconsistencies therein.

What did I say prior to Trump's election that contradicts what I say now? The only thing I was wrong about was thinking Biden would win despite Trump rising in the polls—an opinion many accused me of being insincere about at the time anyway.

I didn’t vote for Biden or Trump, just like I said I wouldn’t.

I said Trump was a moron, and he is. I said Biden was a moron, and he is. I said that dems were denying (and hiding) his mental decline. And they were. (And I was called a paid russian asset for doing that.)

I posted news articles saying that Trump was moving ahead in the polls, and he was. (And I was called a paid russian asset for doing that.)

I said I was going to vote third party, and I did. I said I was a socialist, and I still am. (And I was called a paid russian asset for doing that.)

I said Lemmy (especially .world) was an echo-chamber, and it is. My post/comment history from that time is still up: https://lemmy.world/u/universalmonk

And since you seem to remember me from those times, you’ll also recall how many claimed I was a paid Russian asset and insisted I would vanish right after the election. Yet, here I am. And still not a russian asset. :)

Thanks, friend!
