Summary

Authorities in Green Lake, Wisconsin, suspect that missing kayaker Ryan Borgwardt, 45, may have faked his own death and fled to Europe.

Borgwardt was last seen on August 12 during a fishing trip; his kayak and belongings were later found, but extensive searches yielded no body.

Investigators discovered he used his passport after disappearing, transferred funds abroad, took out a $375,000 life insurance policy, and wiped his laptop.

Officials are exploring possible criminal charges, and they believe he may now be in Eastern Europe.

Oh, so what are the possibilities? Somebody found his passport and used it? And that somebody that found the passport somehow also moved all the money and did the insurance thing? And also wiped his laptop?

My money is on avoiding a costly divorce

I'm just putting this out there.

If I was married to a man, and we were about to divorce, I would 100% be willing to go along with him faking his death so I could collect his life insurance, and then I'd split it with him 50/50.
