Hello everyone!

So I installed BetterF3 using their .jar all-in-one installer and tweaked some of the settings to get my F3 to look how I want it, but after when I installed Complementary Shaders using their all-in-one .jar installer, it created a separate Iris & Sodium option in my minecraft launcher. I didnt think much of it as it is also installing fabric, so I thought my BetterF3 mod in my .minecraft/mods directory would be loaded automatically, but thats not the case.

The game looks amazing with the shader so I want to keep that on, but I also want my nice looking F3 menu back. How can i do that?

Thanks in advance!

P.s. In the image I attached, 1 is the fabric installation made with the BetterF3 installer, and 2 is the one made with the Complementary Shaders installer.

The options for the latest version, latest snapshots and the installations made are called instances

Each instance has its own world, texture packs, etc. It also has its own mods folder if a mod loader is installed(in this case, fabric)

You should be able to add all the .jar files to the mods folder of an instance and use that

A much better option would be to install a third-party launcher. It allows you to install mods and modpacks directly from the app without having to manually install fabric or look through the folders

Modrinth launcher(it has a more user-friendly UI, but access to less mods; it can download all the mods referenced in the post), prism launcher and ATlauncher are all great options

Im on linux and the "Open folder" button doesnt work for each installation so that I can locate its files. However, if I "Edit" the Iris & Sodium instance I can see that the path for it is /home/mart/.minecraft which is the same as for the initial Fabric instance. Is that not its installation directory? If not, how can I find the install directory, or where is it usually placed?

Here is what my /home/mart/.minecraft/ directory looks like:

My BetterF3 mod is in the mods directory

Put the shaders .zip file into the /shaderpacks folder, and make sure you have the Iris .jar in the /mods folder alongside BetterF3.

In the future I strongly recommend using a launcher with built-in mod support. Prism is my go-to.

That worked, thanks!

Im not sure about the launcher with built-in mod support as I dont plan on using any other mods, so Im not sure if its worth it for what is essentially a single mod and a shader pack.

I can strongly recommend Prism! Even though you might not want to install more mods right now, I bet you will in the future. The are LOTS of very well made Minecraft (client side) mods, for having a better playing experience.

And having that neatly sorted into instances with seperate .minecraft folders is bliss. Also if you want to change version from time to time, for example to 1.8.9, it does that too.
