Nah, I'm pretty tired of the whole idea that liking animals is a prerequisite to being a good person. I was raised by an animal hoarder and I've had people lose their shit at me for saying I don't like birds, or that I don't date bird owners because I don't want to live with birds.
I've never been cruel to a bird but I've had to tell casual acquaintances about my fucked up childhood to get them off my case. That's not fair. Maybe don't judge people for such pointless shit.
Part of this is only having as much animal as you can handle. My wife has medical issues and I have been pushing for smaller dogs as Im the one who has to pick them up in old age. Now im trying to get her to be ok with not having one after our current. Would do a cat but shes allergic. I don't want us having pets that we are not giving a high enough quality of life to.
