I'm not at all satisfied with my Edwin Jagger. I need a good razor it's fairly aggressive because my whiskers are like barbed wire. So please recommend me a decent razor that's fairly aggressive.

First I have to ask how many different blades you've tried. The blades are what cut the whiskers, and they do vary in sharpness. Different bezels on the blades make a difference, too. One blade might feel sharp to one person and dull to another just based on what's going on with all the angles.

The Edwin Jagger is a medium razor so most people wouldn't have trouble with it clogging, etc. I would say anything more aggressive than that comes down to personal preference, and not efficacy. But, that's just me, and obviously you aren't most people.

So, if blades have already been explored or you don't care and just want something more aggressive, I can recommend the following:

  1. Merkur Futur
  2. Vintage Gillette adjustable like the Slim Adjustable, Fat Boy, or Super Adjustable. On the higher settings they're quite aggressive.
  3. Vintage GEM Micromatic Open Comb (MMOC). A single edge razor which limits blade choices. Most agree the best blade is Personna GEM PTFE.
  4. Chiseled Face Legacy. More expensive but built really well and made of solid machines metal. It doesn't feel aggressive, but it has a really large blade gap and is very efficient. Some people say riding the cap is the best way to go, but there's a wide range of angles that work.
  5. RazoRock Game Changer .84. More affordable than the Chiseled Face because it's mass produced, but still solid metal.

The list goes on, but that's a good start. Good luck!

Chiseled Face is out of my price range. Merkur is looking nice. They have a slant version as well.

I guess I should try the Japanese feather blades since everyone is talking about them.

The merkur slant is really mild. It won't be more aggressive than your EJ.

It could be me as well. I'll look into improving my technique.

Feather always gets recommended, but there are a lot of people who don't really like them (myself included). Don't box yourself in with blades. Get a sample pack and try a bunch.

Another aggressive razor I forgot about is the Muhle R41. I've never tried one, but it has a lot of fans.

The R41 is a good one to try. It's very affordable and super aggressive. A good way to test whether you really want/need a more aggressive razor.

It's also just a very nice razor to use. Butter smooth and very efficient after a short learning curve

I didn't know I could get a sample pack. I'm definitely have to check that out. Thanks.

I don't know which country you're in, but here's a good source. https://maggardrazors.com/collections/blades/products/build-your-own-sampler-10-packs

You just get a bit of a discount by getting a bunch at the same time. This link is for 10 packs, but they also have an option for 7.

Wow, that's awesome. Going to check that out. Thanks.
