For some reason despite not owning one I have alot of interaction with Canal Boaters.

They are always interested in information about places and services along canals and I was trying to think of the best way of explaining how the contribute and use Openstreetmap

Of course contributing is easy - I just recommend mapcomplete.org, everydoor app, and street complete (less so as its road related)

And then I recommend an App like OSMAnd to use Openstreetmap - But for Canal Boaters specifically - Is there any way they could use layers or searches, any tips, tricks or Apps specifically get information that would be useful for them or be useful if in a canal boat?

Wow, very good first attempt! I'm reviewing the layers you made (esp. fuel station and sanitary dump station) and they seem very well done!

I've spotted a few small mistakes, but nothing fundamental.

It would IMHO be even more interesting to have a layer about the canals themselfs, to indicate what types of boats (e.g. small boats, kayaks, ...) are legally allowed to and physically possible to go over a certain waterway; that would be great!

@pietervdvn @openstreetmap Thanks.

I did think that a background map that emphasised water would be good, I didn't think of trying to get MapComplete to pick out the navigable ways.

Marinas, chandlers and boatyards would probably be good things to have. A (read only?) lock layer for context maybe.

I think mooring areas would be good, but it seems these are normally done on lengths of way, but MapComplete would be limited to adding points (AFAIK).
