Or true because he’s moving on to Lebanon and Iran.
I'm imagining an early Mission Accomplished sign like George Bush, followed by an immediate declaration of war on 3 other countries lol.
That's exactly what's happening. That's why we've been seeing Lebanon, Jordan, and Syria in headlines recently. Calling Oct 7th "Israel's 9/11" was very, very accurate.
It should also be noted that Israel has invaded and controlled the Egypt's Sinai peninsula twice. I wouldn't be surprised if that was a fourth option. (But it doesn't seem like they really want to hold it, the invasions were mostly to make a point. So it seems unlikely to me at this time.)
Egypt has been disturbingly cooperative with Israel lately. Maybe because they know Israel would retake Sinai as "security" if they didn't. They certainly haven't been willing to open up the Rafah Crossing.
Of course, they also hate Palestinians and would love nothing more than to empty their refugee camps, so it could just be, "we don't want any more of their kind here."
Egypt has been an ally for decades, even if public opinion in Egypt has forced the government to keep the relationship out of the spotlight. Anyone who claims that Israel has no friends in the region is woefully out of date. The region is bipolar, and Israel is firmly in one of the two camps.
The crazy thing is that most of the 9/11 comparisons have been coming from Israel and proponents of the way Israel has been handling this.
I seriously do not understand how someone can look at the history of the US's response to 9/11 and come away thinking it supports Israel's actions. Although, in fairness to Israel, at least they got the (quasi)country correct.
