This is what it's like making jokes on the internet in general these days. Say something that is clearly absurd for the sake of humor, and then get hit with a ton of "um achtually..." responses.

That's not what happened in the scenario above, is it?

Asking 'why aren't koalas considered bears?' isn't clearly absurd.

If they'd said the punchline and then the other person said well actually they're marcupials, then fair enough. That just isn't what happened here though.

That is one of the drawbacks of not having to carry a dictionary around ... ever again!

Sometimes it's so obvious that I wonder if the person knew it was a joke and decided to troll anyways. Other times I have to remember that it does take experience to recognize it, and some people have additional limitations like not speaking the language

Like if I never played a video game, I might not recognize the very obvious wall with a different texture that I'm meant to bash through

Also koalas: [email protected]

True... But... How would a Koala not have Koalafications, but a bear does?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 months ago

For bears, "bear necessities" can be considered analogous to koalafications in koalas.

Grizzlies always have the bear necessities needed to get a job done

Because they're high all the time and dont study.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 3 months ago

It's purely nepotism. You have have the right parents to be a bear.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 months ago

Because going through college is a grizzly process

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 months ago

Koalas are too nearsighted.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 3 months ago (4 children)

Yeah lol, that's exactly where my pedantic ass went too, the joke doesn't actually make sense...

[–] [email protected] 10 points 3 months ago

"Why aren't bears considered marsupials?" They don't have the koalafications!

[–] [email protected] 0 points 3 months ago

From one pedantic person to another...

NEEEEEERRRRRD

It's a very polarbearizing issue.
