Regarding spoilers; Please put "(Spoilers)" in the title of your post if you anticipate spoilers, as we do not currently have a spoiler tag available. If your post contains an image that could be considered a spoiler, please mark the thread as NSFW so the image gets blurred. As far as how long to wait until the post is no longer a spoiler, please just use your best judgement. Everyone has a different idea on this, so we don't want to make any hard limits.
Please use spoiler tags whenever commenting a spoiler in a non-spoiler thread. Most of the Lemmy clients don't support this but we want to get into the habit as clients will be supporting in the future.

Nine 88 is just useless my brother had a gun and was threatning to shoot himself. He was off his meds. So we call the number and police show up and he comes out with the gun pointed toward his head an the cops lit his ass up. He god knows how he survived six bullet wounds to the chest. Then he was later arrested. Because the cops had to come out there and made up a story how they were threatened. The body cam showed otherwise and the case was tossed out. So I am very wary about calling 988. I think at this point it maybe a nice idea but it relies on cops being trained to deal with a mentally unstable person. I think in time it will probably do good but at this time its not. You are better off calling the NSPL than anything else.
Some places send medical staff with police responders to these crises and the results seem promising. Maybe if they adopt this modern approach they can avoid these terrible situations. Sorry to hear about your brother, I hope he's doing great.
Oh he's doing great at the bar he likes to act like 50 cent showing off his scars. and since I am on vacation and back home the chicks really love it.
