When she is out earning the other women in her field, she can speak up on this topic

"Only the highest paid women in their occupation can discuss the gender pay gap"

This is literally the fucking stupidest take I can conceive one may have on the topic. I quite honestly can not even imagine a worse one, because any "worse" one at least would more honestly betray the sexism of the holder. You've managed to hit peak bad faith argument before slipping into overtly championing sexism.

It's fucking stupid to compare labor issues to a multimillionaire begging for second yacht money, but I was trying to be kind enough to explain the differences in pay and achievement amongst artists like her in good faith. I guess we can step past that bit to address your mega wealth bootlicking directly since you decided to be a prick about it.

She is paid more than 10,000x 90% of other actresses, yet she is not petitioning for her pay to be averaged out with worse actresses. Why? That is clearly a larger wage gap that needs to be overcome that is far more impactful to more people.

Because acting in the top percent is about how marketable their image is. That is what dictates their income. I named off examples of women who disprove her BS about it only being men who can leverage their image to insane wealth.

If she truly wanted to address a wage gap, the wage gap between lead/peak actors and smaller roles are far greater. That is an actual labor class issue, not just petty bs. It takes a true idiot to think acting is the labor market to build a case for a wage gap in and focus on this part of it rather than the far larger issue.

Making petty complaints like this as a multimillionaire in the face of people facing true labor issues is probably part of why her marketability is hurt.

Fuck off with the pretentious bitching about a multimillionaire second mega-yacht money.

For those of us with the capacity to have two non-competing ideas in our heads at once, it's extremely easy. The mental gymnastics you have to do here in order to maintain exactly one concept in your head at once honestly looks painful to me.

Yes, she has earned more money than most people ever will. That's problem #1.

Yes, there is a wage gap. That's problem #2.

Any person with a shred of mental capacity doesn't have to make a choice between these two ideas.

And like, Sandra Bullock made bank, so there is no gender pay gap? Fucking sweet. There was a black president, so racism is done too, right?

Err, wait, sorry... By your logic, since I'm a member of a race that isn't generally discriminated against, I'm probably not allowed to acknowledge that racism exists for others?

A multimillionaires struggle for a second yacht is the same thing as racial discrimination lmao.

Shut the fuck up.

See, that's my exact point. You can't keep track of even two things.

By your logic, she is simultaneously:

  1. Not well paid enough to speak on the issue, (because Sandra Bullock?)

  2. Paid too much to be able to speak on the issue (because she needs a second yacht?)

Somehow, 5 is a smaller number than 10 but a larger number than 1.

Incredible. When you change a part of the comparison to be a different context, something can be more or less than other things.

Great job Einstein 👏

Well, no, because you already said she needs to make more than Sandra Bullock, who makes more than her, but she already makes too much.

It's like asking me to pick a number that is both larger than 10 and smaller than 5. There is no such number.
