The massacre was obviously the work of NATO. Russia doesn't gain much from this, considering they're already in Ukraine and Putin won the election. And NATO is inhuman enough to pull something like this out of desperation to destabilize Russia. It's another horrible tragedy committed by the heartless ruling class of the empire.
Considering Russian internal security claims they were caught fleeing to the west, towards Ukraine and that Putin has now stated that there was an arrangement for a hole in the border to be opened for them, it definitely seems like Ukraine is involved.

The Problem is that something similar happened in Iran not too long ago. ISIS somehow always keeps popping up doing horrible stuff to the US' enemies. No previous developments and suddenly ISIS. Very natural development.
I don't really support Putin, but rather only his anti-imperialist position.
This is what they don't get, likely from exposure to too much media brainrot. No sane communist could ever truly support Putin unconditionally, it's just that in the current state of things, Putin poses a threat to the Imperialists (and that's a good thing).
It's irrelevant for them, as long as you don't choke on US boot, you're the enemy, they are not interested in details and context.
