I am chuggin gin tonight (not an extended pattern of behavior to be clear) and honestly wtf. Everything is so cruel to the extent that it is almost rediculous.

So, I am a history student and tbh, the absurdity of modern class struggle is becoming fucking unreal to me. I genuinely cannot grasp how the bourgeois sleep at night. Like wtf. The human capacity for indifference is unfathomable. I am watching a video by coffeezilla where he covers the failure of a "bank", which is technically not a bank, that caused a bunch of people to lose 10s of millions of dollars collectively. Maybe being raised by labor aristocrats sheltered me from the inhumanity of capitalism and thats why this fucks me up so bad but one guy losts thousands of hours of his life to this shit. They're just fucking gone. How is this normal, how do most people accept this as their reality. I am honestly impressed by the docility of the working class in the imperial core. I think if I dropped a sumerian peasant into the modern United States they would immediately identify our society as fucked up beyond belief the moment they understood it.

idk where I expected to go with this post. shits just fucked up tbh and I cannot grasp why I see it and others don't. I have little material reason to do so, yet I do and so many others who have a material reason to realize this do not. I think I will smoke tonight and watch an ancient history documentary.

edit: tangentially related but finding you guys made me hopeful for the world, thank you for being sane

GOOD NEWS THOUGH EVERYONE!

A 3 degree warming scenario, the analysts determined, could more than double the growth rate of the $235 billion cooling market every year, from 3 percent to 7 percent until 2030.

stonks-up ON A/C

"The world is not on track to limit temperature rise below 2°C — and limiting warming [to] 1.5°C is almost certainly unachievable," the Institute of International Finance writes

The banking industry can support the transition from fossil fuels to clean energy but capital will only move "at scale when the economics make sense," Mary Kate Binecki, a spokesperson for the Institute of International Finance, said in an email.

One of my classes for my Ecology Degree is an Environmental future planning class and it's bleak, folks. Here are some highlights of the ideas my professor has put forward for planning for the future:

Using AI to help predict all the natural disasters. Because AI is totally going to save us folks.

Floating Parks. Lol.

More bike lanes even though we live in a part of the country that is massively spread out, unbearably hot, humid and hilly. Sure mate, I'm going to bike my 2 hour by car commute on a bike in sauna conditions.

Ride share companies where you pay a subscription instead of owning a car because yeah sure private companies getting more money and the public owning less ourselves is totally the solution instead of JUST MAKING IT PUBLIC TRANSPORT FFS WE HAD TRAMS IN THE 1900s AND THEY WORKED FINE.

Asking right-wingers really nicely to take climate change seriously.

Yet another Paris agreement style thing asking countries to commit to a weak target that they'll just ignore anyway.

Really depressing shit like "Ok so climate change is inevitable so what are some ways we can adapt to constant natural disasters and food scarcity." Like not even planning to fix it or prevent it. Just accepting it as "well it's going to happen nothing we can do." when we sure as fuck should be doing whatever possible to avoid such a future (but of course we can't, because the only solution is communism and assertive resistance and liberals would rather kill the entire global ecosystem than actively fight for survival)

So basically if you want insight on how liberals are going to deal with climate change the answer is about as well as they did with COVID. So basically limp half solutions that they give up on in the spirit of comprising with reactionaries with a focus on mild damage control rather than prevention and repair.

The sad thing is that that the students themselves are putting forward actually good solutions that are communist without realising they're communist, but the lecturer just kind of smiles and nods and goes on to the next topic as if to say "Yes you're right but I can't say it because I work for capitalists."

The more I study the more apparent it becomes that there is no way a capitalist system can fight this. The west cannot fight this even though it's people know the solutions they simply can't do them due to the oppressive nature of our system. Thank god for China because it's looking bad otherwise.

"The data is showing us this is the worst bee loss in recorded history,"

so-far

In addition to making honey, they pollinate 75% of the fruits, nuts and vegetables grown in the U.S. That's $15 billion worth of crops. Shook said the current losses are unsustainable.

"If this is a multi-year thing, it'll change the way we consume food in the United States," Shook said. "If we lose 80% of our bees every year, the industry cannot survive, which means we cannot pollinate at the scale that we need to produce food in the United States."

Vent, I guess I'm tired. So God damn tired. My life is a literal nightmare. On top of everything I get assaulted in a club by a chaser the first time I don't go to a femme centered place once sober. Because ofc I do. I don't know how it will get better. Got no hope for it to but that's okay, not expecting anything good to happen means when it does it's really nice. Cioran really hits the nail on the head when he said "Why don't I commit suicide? Because I am as sick of death as I am of life."

Sorry If this is a bit of a post where I mope because my life is honestly not that great now. It's more of a vent.

I feel like every since the 2020s started my life kind of went to shit. Most likely because I'm growing up (about to enter my early 20s in a couple of months and am Gen Z). 2024 was sorta ok then again It was way worse for some since I'm not from what's considered " The West™ ". I'm a Balkan dude lol.

A lot of stuff has kind of piled up over the last couple of months. From the student blockades here (I'm in college) to my family's problems sorta culminating to a very shit thing yesterday which I won't get into much because privacy. I just can't help but be upset over the present and scared what the future will bring.

Most of my teen years I felt pretty lonely. I don't know how but I feel like I unlearned how to socialize. By that I mean It takes time for me to warm up and start talking to people. I suck at group convos too lol. I am making an effort to socialize more thankfully. Hell today I made some anti-Stormfront action and touched grass with a friend. Not that my pre-2020 social life was any better, was kind of a punching bag but I still had friends and didn't feel lonely and bored. Also I struggle getting some social cues or jokes for some reason. Idk why.

Not to mention job hunting and trying to find my own place. Job hunting I think for the most part of the world is kinda shit rn. Also renting, let alone buying, an apartment here is expensive. Landlords really upped their prices since 2022 because a lot of EU countries, from what I've heard, wouldn't let Russian immigrants in so a lot of them came here. It's kind of impossible for a minimum wage job to rent really. So yeah fuck landlords. Doesn't help I'm the creative type (graphic design, 2d animation, illustrations) which doesn't help my case with AI shit on the rise. I do know some programming like C and Python but I don't feel competent enough.

I won't comment much further because I'm already yapping too much. But I feel like over the last few months or so the blockades went into a direction I don't like. General strikes were a failure but I saw that students are cooking up something with some bigger unions see so we'll see what comes from that. But the whole pacifist, pro-EU narrative turned me off really. Kind of why I haven't really went to a protest in 2 months now. I'm in a org but I feel like we could be doing way more. Which I will ask my comrades about so we'll still see. We kind of distanced ourselves because we don't really see the protests going anywhere.

These days I kinda reminisce about the period of 2012-2019 sometimes. I feel stuck and that's about It really. Just wanted to vent and ask sorta. Thanks for reading 'case you do.

Marks, who played a key role in U.S. President Donald Trump's first term in developing COVID-19 vaccines, was given the choice by a Health and Human Services official to resign or be fired, the report said, citing a person familiar with the matter.

“What we were looking for was evidence of changing hydrology around the world,” said Jay Famiglietti, co-author of the study published in Science. “What we found was this unprecedented decrease in soil moisture in the early part of the 21st century, which took us by surprise.”

“The rate of water dumping into the oceans was bigger from terrestrial water storage than from what we normally think of as the biggest source, which was the melting of Greenland,”

What actually happened; A school teacher in Australia won the Queensland music awards and in her acceptance speech said:

“Our own government is complicit in war crimes by supporting Israel both in words and actions by allowing the export of weapons and weapon parts to Israel to directly kill innocent Palestinian men women and children”.

Which is true. It's not like she's saying anything dangerous, false or deceptive. It's not even that controversial. It's a direct observation of that is happening. Israel is killing Palestinians, and Western countries are funding that. That is a fact.

Now here is how this is being reported by every major Australian news media outlet:

Headline: Brisbane council strips funding of music awards after winner’s anti-Semitic rant

Brisbane Lord Mayor, Adrian Schrinner, has today declared the Council will strip its $25,000 funding of the Queensland Music Awards (QMA) over what he says is the event’s promotion of anti-Semitism. Jazz composer and Brigidine College arts department director, Kellee Green (pictured), won a major music award at Tuesday’s QMA event for a seven-minute pro-Palestinian song entitled ‘River to Sea’. The Brisbane teacher followed up the win with a speech during which she accused the Federal Government of supporting war crimes.

In part of her speech, Ms Green reportedly stated, “Our own government is complicit in war crimes by supporting Israel both in words and actions by allowing the export of weapons and weapon parts to Israel to directly kill innocent Palestinian men women and children”. Lord Mayor Schrinner says the promotion of anti-Semitism at the awards was “utterly shameful and divisive”. “Music should be a positive force that brings people together, not tear them apart,” he said.

“The decision to hand a major prize to an offensively titled anti-Jewish song raises serious questions about whether the awards have been hijacked by extremists. “Allowing such vile hate speech to occur shows the awards seem to be no longer capable of achieving their own stated goal to ‘promote diversity and inclusion’. “I want Brisbane to be a safe and inclusive destination for everyone and the kind of divisive and offensive actions on display at last night’s awards have no place in our city. “As a result, we will be immediately withdrawing our funding and support for these awards.” The QMA has not yet commented publicly on the controversy. The awards also receive funding from the Queensland and Federal Governments.

It's not just this article. This is the narrative being pushed everywhere in Australia, major publications are reporting the mildest pro-palestinian sentiment in the same way, as if it anti-semitic extremism and as if the genocide isn't happening. All criticism of Israel has been redefined as criticism of the Jewish community (which is false, if anything it is anti-semitic to imply that Israel speaks for all Jews). Teachers are being fired and universities are being defunded and censored for speaking out against genocide.

This actually terrifies me. Just the extent of obvious and open twisting of reality going on and the gaslighting happening. The fash are getting bold. We are being trained to accept bolder and bolder illusions and to accept greater and greater crimes against humanity. What's next? Will we be drowning in floods and they'll be arresting us for saying water exists?

We as a society are in a very dark zone at the moment. It isn't just the US, it isn't just Trump, it isn't a new thing. This has been what the capitalist West has been working towards for decades. The whole thing is rotten from its foundations and I can't help feeling something even worse is boiling up from it.

The only silver lining I can see from this is the denial of reality in a fascist society makes it unable to survive in said reality. You can't can't adapt to an environment you can't accurately assess.

The question is how long will it go on and what further damage to humanity will be done before the fascist delusion finally collapses on itself?

She said in shallower areas known for their clear waters, which are popular with tourists, she had seen up to 90% of corals bleached and evidence of corals dying. Even slow-growing corals that were hundreds of years old were bleaching, she said.

Richards said: “This isn’t isolated to Ningaloo – this is happening across the entire north-west shelf. There has never been this scale of impacts in WA. I am not aware of this ever happening before. Climate change has definitely caught up with the reefs in WA.”

Lizard Island's section of the Great Barrier Reef has been bleached for the last six years:

Howells said there was less coral mortality this year, “but that’s because a lot of the sensitive corals died last summer”. “There just isn’t enough opportunity for these coral communities to bounce back. It’s heartbreaking,” she said.

So many ecosystems are being destroyed forever sadness

Just a bunch of autonomous, non-thinking algorithms in data centers scattered across the country farming for rage bait/clicks. It’s all propped up by unthinkable amounts of capital which drops people’s consciousness in to one liberal bucket to craft a reality which makes them the most bigoted humans on earth. Incredible work

The internet is such a fucking dead end

Until recently, Nelson and other bird flu experts held out hope that, with some basic interventions, the H5N1 outbreak among cows and poultry would burn itself out and that cases among wild animals might fade away, as they did during a brief 2014-2015 outbreak. But the latest events prove that isn’t likely. “It’s hard to imagine a scenario where it’s no longer a pandemic threat,” Nelson says.

"I think it’s endemic," she says. And a December 2024 study, published in Science, concluded that just a single mutation could make the currently circulating H5N1 virus readily transmissible between humans. “What we’re allowing this virus to do is like 1,000 shots on goal,” Lakdawala says.

Feels like we are just waiting for human to human at this point.

Good lord we are irredeemable. Attacks on the most vulnerable and people are defending it. So many people saying disable people just need to "get on with it." People just completely oblivious to the hell claiming benefits is in the UK, thinking you can self diagnose autism and just get money. Real work will set your free vibes. So much eugenics! I hate it here.

The report lists 151 unprecedented extreme weather events in 2024, meaning they were worse than any ever recorded in the region.

Also the report still pretends staying under 1.5c is possible :agony-shivering: the average for this year is (as of a few days ago) 1.67c.

…currently, no cases of measles acquired in Hawai‘i have been reported.

Vaccination rates in Hawaiʻi are even lower in some pockets. Notably, multiple schools on Maui, Kauaʻi, and Hawaiʻi Island report vaccination rates below 75%, which could lead to greater vulnerability. This is below the 82% vaccination rate in Gaines County, which is the epicenter for the Texas-New Mexico outbreak. An outbreak on a neighbor island would heavily strain its healthcare system, and no neighbor island hospital has a pediatric intensive care unit.

All it takes is one plague bearer on one plane.

Measles is one of the most contagious viruses currently known. If a person is infected with measles, an expected nine out of 10 people nearby who do not have immunity also will become infected.

For measles, a population vaccination rate of at least 95% is needed to protect the community from an outbreak.

The fall of empire continues. Stay masked, everyone. Cloth masks are better than nothing but often have poor seals and present sanitary concerns. I use KF94s that have been independently tested to provide identical as-worn filtration levels to N95s. Anyone tried those fancy elastomeric respirators?
