Homeopathic stuff is even worse than this, beyond being useless, it's just NOTHING. ABSOLUTELY should not be allowed to exist.

The problem with phenylephrine here, is that it is an Actual Drug that does Actual Things, just not remotely the thing it claims to do. Due to a widespread attempt to ban pseudoephedrine because meth, something needed to fill that gap as the "safe" decongestant. Industry put forward phenylephrine, a vasoconstrictor commonly uses in topical applications, forced it through government approval because regulatory capture, then police and political forces used its existence to justify bans on pseudoephedrine. Something that worked great was made illegal/hard to obtain (talk to a pharmacist, scan a card, only a week of pills at a time; if not explicitly banned), but industry still got their precious dollars.

(does not apply to topical usage--still great for hemorrhoids, preparation H works)

FUCKING FINALLY.

that shit (phenylephrine) is USELESS GARBAGE. It went on our shelves because cops are mad about meth. It did NOTHING for congestion. The ONLY effect it has is mildly increasing the risk of a heart attack.

I do not. This is like the core of ADHD executive dysfunction. Stuff only happens in last minute panic mode. Meds help some. Anti-anxiety meds help some too. But I got through college by, frankly, just getting better at doing stuff at the last minute. Same thing that keeps me going in the corporate world.

(The pomodoro technique mentioned by another poster is also good though. It's not a perfect solution, but in some situations it has helped me get started on something to know "I'm not committing to finishing this, I'm committing to working on it for 25 minutes. Surely I can handle suffering for 25 minutes")

I am strongly on the side of "the civil war is already happening". Like, civil cold war, minor skirmishes here and there.

The problem is that it takes two sides to fight a war, and only one side is fighting currently.

The war starts once folks start fighting back.

Please, any and everyone who can, get a gun and learn to use it.

I do feel yeet has a timelessness to it, due to the onomatopoeia-ness/ying-yang synergy with yoink

Personally, if the NAS is up and running, I'd migrate the home directory and anything else important from the desktop to that, and intend to network host those folders; set aside the 1TB, install the 2 TB, and do a fresh install and see if I can still get to everything happily.

Alternatively--if you want to preserve stuff locally--new drive in an enclosure, attach to desktop, boot from an install USB, fresh install to 2TB, reboot from 2TB, mount 1TB, migrate data, install 2TB. I don't think there should be a UUID problem doing that, but even if there was you could still boot from the install stick and try manually fix it
