Lol in some places probably. Around Chicago you can get studios for 1-2k depending on the neighborhood. Cheaper to rent a room though
From my experience of both:
The people in the top rarely leave their houses except for work because there's nothing to do that isn't a 20 minute drive away.
Meanwhile in the bottom there's a park and 20 restaurants, cafes, and shops within walking distance, with a million other things a bus ride away.
Rent in the former is 2000 for a 3 bedroom. Rent in the latter is 2000 for a studio.
