I recommend using Usenet for German stuff, all the private trackers I have tried in the past were... seedy.

Yes, you need to pay for access to the Usenet, but it's worth it for German language audio IMO.

Check out scenenzbs.com, no need to pay to search there. Check if everything you need is available, though likely, it will be.

I have not had a failed download yet.

Don't forget the music! There are some fantastic German artists, regardless of your tastes. The bonus to music is that it's easy to listen to passively, and when you reference song lyrics and listen to songs you like repeatedly, you find yourself picking up more and more.

Nina Hagan. Fantastischen Vier. Die Ärzte. Rammstein. Die Toten Hosen. Falco! (Although his Austrian accent can make things challenging).

As for films, if you can find copies of the German broadcast of the old TV series "Planet of the Apes," it's the best. The (military) gorillas all have this harsh, hochdeutsche accent, and the (scientist) monkeys all get soft, Sachsisch accents. It's wonderful.

There're a few open german torrent trackers. [1]

Immortuos is application only, but they have an english language interface, so if your on other private trackers already, I recommend applying.

Daym immortuos rejected my application. If anyone wants to help me as a reference, ping me.

Might be easier to VPN into the various Mediatheken that German TV stations run.

Unfortunately those are required under law to delete public access relatively promptly as not to "distort the conditions of (economic) competition"

yt-dlp works for the Mediatheken though, and news shows are probably a good source for learning german.

The various shows on ARD and ZDF are probably suited for beginners too.

That's for public broadcasters. Would be news to me that RTL is obligated to take down their own stuff? In any case, there's still a constant flow of basically all the content made in Germany and it's easier than getting into private trackers :)

huh, I'm only familiar with the ones from public broadcasters

TIL RTL has one too, tho ofc that makes sense

https://www.sendungverpasst.de/sender - not just RTL.

Coincidentally, I just saw Nitro has a bunch of Edgar Wallace right now. https://www.sendungverpasst.de/search?q=edgar+wallace Those might be interesting to OP, seeing as they're German cultural foundations :)

A curated list of (not only) German piracy sites.
