About half of Linux users will abandon it when it gets too close. Currently FreeBSD is the Loonix to the current Loonix. It's faster, more efficient, and more reliable on high loads. Linux requires more tuning by the user (partly depending on distro) to get near FreeBSD.

FreeBSD is more secure with features like jails for isolation and a strong, integrated firewall.

Like Linux, FreeBSD has limited hardware support. -Linux evangelists don't mind this, opting to insult hardware that doesn't work anyway.

The BSD license has fewer restrictions making it 'more customizable' in a legal sense.
