Sorry, my thoughts and prayers are out of network.

So where's the ~~grave~~ new toilet going to be installed?

I demand that Bezos and Murdoch outlets shut the fuck up.

Note how both demands will be equally successful.

The common people demand more sympathy for Luigi

Best I can do is deny, defend, and depose.

At what point is we gonna cross chattel slavery territory, daddy?

[–] [email protected] 49 points 1 week ago

I demand more sympathy for americans with medical issues. Enough to get action to get them healthcare. Once we have that I might have excess sympathy that could be applied to health insurance execs. so get cracking.

They can demand all they want. Afaict bezos and murdoch should be more worried about themselves

How can Americans simultaneously hate health insurance CEOs while simultaneously shouting down event attempt to improve healthcare at the ballot?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

yeah I see a lot of "oh what a wonderfully dialetctically materialful moment of class consciousness this is" and, uh, great, but try doing anything with it. get those people to join your communist book club if it's so easy. willfully ineffective leftist challenge: figure out that political illiteracy stops bourgeoisie electoralism but also stops every other political activity (impossible)

[–] [email protected] 28 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Neither party was offering single payer. American voters are stupid as fuck but I don’t understand what point you’re trying to make here.

Well, as poor as the choices might seem, last time Trump was in power he spent every day not on the golf course trying to sabotage the ACA. It wasn't exactly a zero sum choice at the ballot box.

Because the man on TV said changing the system would be communism.

shouting down event attempt to improve healthcare at the ballot

Did somebody offer single pay?!

Also, ACA is how we got here dear. Single payer or more dead CEOs likely IMHO

There should not be such job as CEO of health insurance company.

Notice the subject of the headline: the people distributing the news and information to those voters are upset that people aren't feeling "how they should". Those same news outlets edit stories to make people feel negatively towards things that are in their own best interest. People are cutting through the propaganda and starting to unite over healthcare.

Kinda off topic, but I wish more of these posts were not on the .world instance. They seem to be giving into the censors and becoming more reddit-like over time.

[–] [email protected] 63 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Very on topic imo

Get off .world yall

[–] [email protected] 24 points 1 week ago (4 children)

As someone that started on Lemmy post Reddit, I found .world to be the most up front and easy to sign up for. I would love to change off of world but I'm not sure the best alternatives or ways to find them? Do you have any recommendations?

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Depends on what your interests are but I’d avoid creating an account or a community on .world (too dominating, and lately are corpo bootlickers, also power tripping mods), .ml (power tripping admin), hexbear (highest troll ratio, active attacks on other instances). There’s good folk on all those but there are big issues w each imo.

I’ve got several accts on different instances. Each have their quirks. Like some don’t allow downvotes or different words, and others are federated or defederated with other instances I wanna see or avoid on occasion

slrpnk.net resonates with me as I work in trying to help the world become more sustainable

join-lemmy.org has a list of instances you can join. If you just want to look through a list that's a great place to browse.

If you're looking for specific recommendations I'd say lemm.ee is great in terms of moderation, they don't overmoderate and tend not to defederate from many places so users can kinda choose themselves whether or not to block an instance. Dbzer0 is similar, it's the instance with the big piracy community which .world blocked, and the admin is also great.

Both of those are in the top 10 communities in terms of size though iirc, which ideally people would avoid the biggest instances and join smaller ones to try and prevent centralization like what happened with .world communities.

Lemmy.zip is also great from what I've heard, and while it's not small, it's top 20 instead of top 10 at least.

I too would like an answer to this. I started on a much smaller, more local instance, but it would always crashing as soon as I started scrolling. Like every single time I used it. Switched to .world and it's never happened once.

This had previously been posted to [email protected] (https://lemmy.world/post/23131889) but was removed as "not politics." Personally, I think pointing out instances of manufactured consent very much is politics, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[–] [email protected] 91 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Because .world admins, and by extension their mods who have to enforce their policies, are corpo bootlickers

[–] [email protected] 34 points 1 week ago (5 children)

It does seem clear from the messages they write which, coincidentally sound entirely like Reddit marketing tripe, that they are gunning for a corporate buyout and golden parachutes, for a Lemmy instance, which is laughable.
