Has anyone had any luck with, or does anyone know of any services in the UK that operate like Task Rabbit does in the US?

It sounds super trivial, but I've got some very minor work that needs doing around the house but I've got absolutely no ability with a drill.

??

I usually just ask someone in the pub who has either had the work done or knows someone else who has. It's usually better to get someone in who you know has done a decent job.

Otherwise, a local Facebook group or Nextdoor should yield decent results.

Careful about hiring friends to do work for you though. Things can get awkward if they turn out to be unprofessional or they cause damage or whatever

Oh crumbs, I wasn't suggesting that. Just that you are better off asking around and finding someone who is recommended rather than just picking a random person.

Ah right. Either way, beware people! I've made this mistake and it somewhat ruined a friendship. I didn't even do the cutting off. The guy sort of bodged a job and then ran off on shame

Yeah, that's not ideal.

What you are looking for is a handy man, you used to find them in the yellow pages, but try your favourite search provider?

My search came up with task rabbit uk as the first sponsored result...

Is it just me that gets triggered by these US companies which exist only to be an IT based middle man? Like mini cabs existed before Uber, but everyone acts like they never knew these things existed?

You could argue that a significant number of companies operate as a computerisation of an existing concept

The whole concept runs around the question. How can I make money while taking no legal responsibility for the staff doing the work.
