The one time I made one, it was two minutes after you had already made it. 🀫

Traffic was awful heading to my social sports training tonight, but had fun once I finally got there. Hadn’t been for a few weeks. There’s just some days I need to be around a group of people. Made the drive worth it.

I wish my boys could talk a bit more. Something was bothering one of them tonight and he couldn't get to sleep, I wish he could tell me what it was

Depending on their ages, they sometimes lack the vocabulary to put their feelings into words, especially if they're new feelings or sort of vague feelings or worries. It's frustrating because it's hard to know what prompts to give to get them talking. Sounds like you're doing the right thing and you're there for them and they know that, that's all you can do sometimes.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 days ago

Their speech was always going to be delayed because they're twins. One is putting together two word sentences pretty consistently now and the other understands everything but doesn't talk as much.

I've put together some flashcards using the program Anki and it has really helped them start recognising things and saying a few words

Tom is the best dad , along with all the other dads here. I'm sure once they can they will talk. πŸ™‚

First class survived. Don’t think I made a tit of myself. Making friends seems unlikely though.

I'm stoned, a little faint after changing the bandage (just a non-stick one held one with normal bandaids lol) so lying on the couch. I'm such a pussy when it comes to my own body - I can watch and even help with wounds, but when it's my wound... Ugh!

Got a bag of twisties though! #winning

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Oh bummer. Hope you’re not too out of sorts.

Are you busy at the moment?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I'm alright :) just hate seeing my own blood haha

I'm not particularly busy:) why?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 days ago

[–] [email protected] 8 points 3 days ago

Starting piano / guitar lessons on Thursday. By that, I mean I am alternating between instruments until I pick one. Thinking of going with piano because I learnt it as a kid, but am considering guitar for something different, and also I wanna be a rockstar.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Nah, not a rock star. Too much pressure and it takes over your life. You can never do normal stuff again.

You want a single smash one hit wonder that gives you enough to live it up for a year, before you invest $10 Million or so. Then retire into obscurity living very comfortably off your investments for the rest of your life. 5% of $10 Million is an annual allowance of $500k.

If you do want a lasting career, you want someone with the wealth and lifestyle, but not the fame. Someone like Dianne Warren or Max Martin. You can walk safely down the Street and nobody knows who you are. The only circles you're famous in are rock stars and movie directors.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 days ago

Or a song that gets picked up for a tv theme or ad, then you get lots of ongoing royalties.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 days ago

They're quite complementary instruments so you may end up sticking with both, even if you only pay for lessons for one

[–] [email protected] 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Mixed some midori with some fruit juice. Not too bad.

Now I need ice cubes.

Yep, it was that sort of a day.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Noice

Midori and lemonade is a classic drink. Grab a bottle next time you're at Aldi.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 days ago

Yeah. Will do that next time though rate I’m going I might need a new bottle of midori too.

4 hours of karaoke. Mostly friend screaming. I am dead.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Like a goood dead or a bad dead?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 days ago

Neutral dead.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 3 days ago (1 children)

One of my clients got pissed off at the slow pace of their projects, and decided to bring in a 3rd party "project partner". Tomorrow I'm having a "conversation" with Senior Leadership Team. I have a real bad feeling I'm about to be scapegoated for the failures of the project team because the project team manager is besties with my manager. I hate this feeling so fucking much.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I know exactly how that feels. We're here for you if you need it

[–] [email protected] 9 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

I appreciate it man. Let's see how it plays out. It'd suck to be looking for a new job a few days before my birthday.

I'm OK money wise for a while, but I don't think I can do another 6 months without a job.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 days ago

Let's hope things don't happen that fast. Even if they do, the job market is weirdly hot this time of year.

My boys' birthday is this Saturday as well so I get how you feel. I think you'll be able to ride it out until past Christmas

Day 2 of meal replacement done. βœ…

[–] [email protected] 10 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (2 children)

I guzzled the appropriate amount of water on Sunday and Monday, as my vein gushed a tad yesterday lol. First time 'round last year, the machine kept beeping because my pressure was low, because I didn't eat or drink enough.

This time, I filled that bag up quicksmart! Had a Nippy's Iced Coffee and some potato chips after. But yeah, now my elbow-pit is rather sore, I keep catastrophising and think it's still bleeding and I don't want to look, as it was when I changed the dressing yesterday (3 hours afterwards).

But! No complaints! Follow the directions and drink heaps of water!

Edit: actually, the only complaint is the bruise on my left middle finger from the haemoglobin test. I forget how much the tips of the fingers are used until one is sore πŸ˜…

some lemmy medals πŸŽ–οΈπŸŽ–οΈπŸŽ–οΈ it's a wonderful thing you are doing 😘

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 days ago

They're putting in the hard work collecting it all πŸ™ŒπŸΌ I just go in when they text me that they want my blood type haha although, the nurse there said that my vein is real big so I should consider plasma donations.

Can do it more often, and they need people with big fat veins to handle the blood being back in when they seperate the plasma. πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ I should rack up my donation numbers lol

[–] [email protected] 9 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I have watered the garden. Expect a cloudburst.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (2 children)

It’s now spitting where I am..

Can you get it to hold off for 1/2 hr? Gotta walk to catch a tram 😬
