Summary

German authorities arrested eight members of the "Saxon Separatists," a right-wing extremist group aiming to dismantle the democratic order to establish a National Socialist state.

Formed in 2020, the group envisioned a "collapse of civilization" to create an ultra-nationalist society, allegedly planning to seize power in Saxony and other eastern regions. With racist, antisemitic, and apocalyptic beliefs, the group engaged in paramilitary training, raising serious security concerns.

Justice Minister Marco Buschmann condemned their goals, highlighting the need to protect Germany's democracy from radical threats. The group's leader, Jörg Zgorzelec, was detained in Poland.

Just put of absolute curiosity...

...how often are left-wing militants arrested?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

Quite regularly, actually. We also extradite them illegally into countries that don't think much about human rights

Never. When it happens, you read that terrorists have been arrested.

Eight down, way too many to go.

I hate how the press refuses to address to these people as what they are.

They are not "right-wing militants", they are nazis. Call them by their name.

It's not a "national socialist" state but a NAZI state what they want to create.

Nazi is just shorthand for national socialist. It means the exact same thing. The article did call them what they are.

While I agree, it just doesn't sound the same. Not everyone will know what the national socialism was, but everyohe knows what a nazi is.

I don't know why is it so hard for them to say words like fascist or nazi.

Really? I find spelling out "national socialist" much more impactful than using "Nazi" simply because it isn't generally used as casually (like in "grammar nazi" etc).

The media always does this shit. Like how they use their preferred term, white nationalist, here in the US instead of just calling them racists or bigots.
