It's understandable that things get tense at the end of this season and there is a lot of drama going on, but please be civil and respectful to each other. Discussion is great but no insults / xenophobic remarks as it does not lead to anything but frustration.

Man there's a lot of xenophobic conspiracy theorists in this comment section lmao

Didn't know Johnny Herbert was the secret god-emperor of the FIA and F1 either, that was news to me

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'm actually happy with this result. Seeing a time penalty for something that didn't give an advantage during the race would feel wrong to me.

Not gonna comment about the size of the fine because even "only" €5,000 is such a large amount of money for most of us.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

No, stop. You need to be angry and stir up xenophobic conspiracy theories!

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago

Oh, shit, I knew I was doing something wrong. I'm so bad at being a sports fan! 😭

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Kind of a weak fine if you compare it to Verstappen's 50.000 fine for touching a rear wing a couple of years ago.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago

People have received up to 1 minute penalties for similar starting infringements back in the 90ies.. so yeah it is weak

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago

Absolutely. LeClerc was fined €5000 (+€5000 suspended) for using profanity outside the track. Profanities are now more severely punished than illegally driving on a track while stewards and a driver are walking around.

Yesterday a team provisionally earned €30,000,000. A fine of €50,000 is a joke when compared to rewards like that. If touching a competitor's car provides information that makes you win races, it is absolutely worth it. See https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/the-mercedes-rear-wing-marks-behind-red-bulls-suspicions/6799537/ and https://www.racefans.net/2021/11/13/verstappen-fined-e50000-as-stewards-rule-he-did-no-direct-harm-touching-hamiltons-rear-wing/

The result wouldn't have changed much even with all the guilty parties rightfully recieving a 5 sec penalty. Russell would still be ~~3rd~~ 4th, Norris would still be 6th, Yuki would still be 7th, piastri would still be 8th and ollie would still be 12th. The only beneficiary would be perez who would move upto 9th after the penalties for lawson and lewis who would drop to 10th and 11th respectively.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

A complete joke that McLaren, Merc, VCARB and Haas get off almost scott free for breaking the rules. It makes no sense to me that Hamilton got two 5 second penalties in Sochi 2020 for doing a practice start from the wrong spot in the pitlane but shit like this goes unpunished. The top 3 should have gotten time penalties because they are the ones who instigated it.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago

NOOOOO

Hamilton couldn't have been punished for this! It goes against the conspiracy theory!

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Should've been a usual starting infringement 5s penalty. Stewarding has been awful this weekend.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Stewarding has been awful this weekend.

Johnny Herbert was a steward again, so that was kind of expected.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago

Why no answer? Don't have one?

Max has the right passport

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago

Hello? Just ignoring all the stuff that goes in Max's way?

He has the right passport πŸ‡³πŸ‡±

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago

He was last week and it was mostly fine, aside from Max not being punished for T8, which was actually a more egregious incident than his T4 antics.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago

Came looking for this. Thanks OP.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

So.checo gets 5 seconds.. but nothing here?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Checo got a sporting advantage. Norris didnt

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago

Norris created a potential dangerous situation for Stewards, much worse than a sporting advantage.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Checo got a sporting advantage. Norris didnt

What about "judge the infraction, not the outcome" that gets repeatedly quoted when somebody was suffering a big crash but the guilty driver gets only 5 secs or so? Starting infraction is starting infraction.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

When a driver speeds in the pit lane during practice they only get a fine but when they speed during the race (when they gain a sporting advantage) they get a time penalty and it's the exact same infraction. You say starting infraction as if the two cases are the same but they're not.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago

When a driver speeds in the pit lane during practice they only get a fin

Maybe bring up that example when Norris runs a red light in free practice, not during the race session.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago

Sporting advantage is not the only criteria involved when dishing out penalties as we saw with Bearman's penalty today. He was the one who spun because of the contact and yet he was the one who was punished because the contact was his fault

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Formula 1 has become a joke. If a driver would do the same in a karting championship, they would be instantaneously disqualified.

Norris has the right passport 😜

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Stop with the passport conspiracy, FFS.

It doesn't even make sense. Someone with that same passport got a championship taken from them by the race director.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Of course it does not make sense. It was a reference to what Max said, and I added a smiley.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Of course it does not make sense.

In pretty much every international sporting competition, the referees are from countries other than the competing teams/athletes. Football, boxing, you name it. It's part of rules to maintain impartiality and fairness in the matches. Englishman Johnny Herbert being part of the stewarding team to judge over English teams and athletes would be a scandal in every other sport's world championship. This weekend a German ADAC higher-up was also part of the stewarding team. I have no idea about his impartiality regarding Mercedes or Nico HΓΌlkenberg and there shouldn't be any questions regarding impartiality based on nationality. That's precisely why others sports have such rules.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

F1 has people from many countries in it. I don't know why you're pretending that the stewards are always British.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

you’re pretending that the stewards are always British

I don't. I literally wrote that one of the four steward this weekend was German. Unlike you I actually looked up the nationalities but you also proved beforehand that you rather go on pro-English vibe than actual research when claiming that the front row is not treated differently when running red lights.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago

You're acting like Johnny Herbert/Brits make the decisions. Complete bullshit.

Pro-English? How am I pro English? Prove it. I'm not even English.

You on the other hand are a xenophobe complaining about people's nationalities for no reason, and perpetuating a dumb xenophobic conspiracy theory.

Tell me how it is acceptable for a French or Japanese driver to run over a marshal but not an English one. This should be good.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago

Yeah it makes zero sense. It's a dumb conspiracy theory that people love to parrot whenever "their" driver has any problems.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Someone with that same passport got a championship taken from them by the race director

Do you mean the race when that English person could earlier cut a corner, overtake off the track, gain a massive advantage, and then later had to only lift off the throttle a bit which was then "the advantage was given back"?

Tsunoda and Lawson also aren’t British but did the exact same thing.

No, they didn't because the weren't in the front row.

Hahaha, you mean when he was pushed off track and had to take evasive action to avoid a crash? Then backed off the accelerator to negate any advantage he got from being shoved off the track, a situation that was entirely caused by Max in the first place, who was desperate for a crash that would secure the championship?

Lmao you cannot be seriously defending AD2021 and pretending you aren't enormously biased, Mr Dutch-Username

No, they didn't because the weren't in the front row.

Ah, I forgot that safety regs only apply to P1 and P2. Silly me. I must have missed that FIA regulation. Can you point it out to me so I can read up on it?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Lmao you cannot be seriously defending AD2021 and pretending you aren’t enormously biased, Mr Dutch-Username

I'm not Dutch, nor do I have a Dutch user name. Can't even get your xenophobia right. OTOH your affiliation:

Ah, I forgot that safety regs only apply to P1 and P2. Silly me. I must have missed that FIA regulation. Can you point it out to me so I can read up on it?

Yes, follow up Tweet quoting the stewards' decision:

Maybe should have clicked on the linked source instead of making stuff up. The answer was right there a mere 40 minutes after the first Tweet.

Also several racing directives are secret under NDA. The FIA knows them, select individuals from the teams know them, journalists and therefore the public don't know them. the-race.com could recently only quote a few sentences in a follow-up podcast to the recent discussions about overtaking rules because those were leaked to them.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Yes it is Dutch, moron.

Lmao you're the one being xenophobic.

I'm not even British LMAO, I'm Indian.

We get it, you only want rules applied to British drivers. It's ok if a Frenchman or a Japanese person drive into a marshal apparently.

Stop making up some random xenophobic conspiracy theory.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yes it is Dutch, moron.

It's not Dutch, it's German. Different country, different language. Also your need for insults shows how desperate you are. You know you don't have arguments on your side.

We get it, you only want rules applied to British drivers. It’s ok if a Frenchman or a Japanese person drive into a marshal apparently.

Me? I quoted what the stewards said and in their decision they said that the front row has a higher responsibility. Don't shoot/insult the messenger. Take it up with them if you disagree.

I'm blocking you now. I don't need to put up with your insults.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

It's Dutch. Meaning to stir. Your name is even an admission to being a shitstirrer.

Lmao you started the insults first when you went to xenophobia.

Bye bye xenophobe. It's such a loss not speaking to hateful cunts like you πŸ™„
