that's actually pretty easy to remember.

a trio is when three people make music together.
if you throw an "l" (latin for 50) in there, you get:

tree fiddy trilobytes = 1 gigabyte

A couple of years ago I realized it's not trilo-bites, it's tri-lobe-ites. As in something with three lobes.
