UK Politics
General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both [email protected] and [email protected] .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.
Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
[email protected] appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(
people yelled at me when i said the tories were still better than a starmer led government.
remember when keir starmer lied and ran as a pro immigrant, pro rejoin candidate when he ran for labour leader?
His father was a toolmaker. And I kept saying he's a fucking tory except he's somehow worse
Remember kids, your granny has to freeze to death this winter but we can give millions to fascists
Old enough to remember when this guy was denouncing the Rwanda deportation plan. Apparently, sending people to East Africa is over the line, but sending everyone to Southern Europe is just fine.
Also, thrilled to find something Keir Starmer has decided to spend money on, despite his insistence that the country is too broke to do anything nice for anybody.
Sir Keir has signalled he is open to pursuing an arrangement similar to Italy’s migration deal with Albania, whereby asylum seekers will be held in the Balkan state while their claims are processed.
Thank god they scrapped that gimmicky Rwanda scheme, eh?
Incase you didn't know, Rwanda was for settled claims, not processing.
As in, they would be sent to Rwanda if they were successful in their asylum claim.
Processing asylum seekers in a country they are already in, like Albania, is significantly safer than forcing them to get in a dingy.
Now if we are taking people out of dingys in the channel, and taking them to Albania, then yes fuck that absolutely.
The Italy-Albania deal being referenced isn't them keeping asylum seekers in Albania while their claim is processed, it's shipping them off to Albania while their claim is processed.
As I cover in my final paragraph.
Yes, they'll stay in Italy until their claim is processed.
I assume you mean Albania? That's what the part I quoted is about.
