Dewine isn't crazy, he's mostly a paleorepublican from before the dixiecrat coup.

He's been fighting this insanity for a while, with mixed results.

He's a Midwestern republican, it's less bad there and they can keep deniability that people are so insane.

A lot of the worst of this spread from the dixiecrats when they joined the GOP, what's tragic is how Midwesterners keep convincing themselves that this is just normal politics and not the legacy of Jim Crow racism run amok.
