I wouldn't mind travelling by night train, but every time I check I'm unable to buy tickets. Last trip my wife and I did we really tried doing it by train, but it was just impossible to order. Maybe I just don't understand how to do it, but ordering a plane ticket is fast and easy. Ordering a long distance train ticket should have the same experience.

Edit: ok I checked again and looks like it's possible now. Maybe they got their shit together in the meantime

What site are you using to book night trains?

Nightjet.com. It's weird, for some destinations it works fine, but for others not at all, even though it states there are trains going

I've been doing lots of travel by train this year and just wish the quality of trains was more predictable. Late trains are usually super dirty. Delays are constant. Access to power plugs to get some work done has been unreliable (both from lack of plugs and lack of power on plugs).

I like it a lot more than flying, as its greener, more comfortable, and there's free Internet most of the time. And for many trips, it's faster than flying when you include the way to the airport and the time you spend in security and waiting to board.

Haha. It might explain part of my bad experiences, but I travel to other countries by train as well. But DB has the best and the worst trains.

to be fair, I've never traveled outside Switzerland, but I have never had any gripes with SBB

Weird, the first picture isn't in Amsterdam, but in The Hague (Den Haag Hollands Spoor).
