Cowboys QB Dak Prescott said he does not need a contract extension to be done before the season starts, but it "says a lot" with no deal yet in place.

He is among a number of key players, such as Zack Martin and DeMarcus Lawrence, about to enter the final year of their contracts. Mike McCarthy and the entire coaching staff is also on the final year of their contracts.

Sounds like the whole crew has one more year to prove they're the right core and staff. I'm sure Jerry wants one more bite at the apple to try to have a regime fully of his making win a Super Bowl, but I don't think it's going to happen. For many years I've said that the problem with Jerry Jones is not that he's a terrible GM, but rather that he's a mediocre one. If he were terrible, I think even he would have bowed out by now, but by consistently building solid teams with a few too many holes and overpaying for guys he's fond of, he can convince himself that they're almost there and Jimmy Johnson can fuck himself.

I think his team building is fine.

His problem is that he's such an overbearing jackass that the only people willing to coach for him are ineffective morons.

If he was half as good at GM duties as he is at marketing & money making, they’d have a few more rings since the ‘95 season.
