A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The best ones are thoughts that many people can relate to and they find something funny or interesting in regular stuff.

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. Avoid politics (NEW RULE as of 5 Nov 2024, trying it out)
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct

If you use "they" to describe a nameless group of people and you mean anyone other than The Man (That's how they get you.), you're probably the one who's wrong.

Looking forward to reading some fun exceptions.

I have a nice group of friends who will remain nameless. They are pretty good people.

I had the thought because of a friend's asshole husband who says things like, "Why can't they have their own bathroom and sports?" or "how did they get two of them on the school board?" or "why do they all come to this wal-mart?"

Any time you would use "They say," like "You know what they say," is referring to the general populous

For the likes of Farrage and Musk it means themselves but they don't want to be the bad guy

They say you shouldn't generalize about people.
