It's pissing down out there and the steam is unbelievable.
I like it when a storm happens then Woolworth's car insurance texts me to say there's a storm where I normally park. I park in the garage.
Drove past a crew doing some king of work in the nature strip (water maybe?). In this hot windy weather, I wish to say to all workers who have to be outdoors today you are all absolute champs. People donβt appreciate there are real people out there keeping stuff going. You have my admiration and appreciation.
I have a grocery delivery that was supposed to be delivered before midday that has still not arrived. The website still has an estimated arrival time of 10:30. My current working theory is the delivery driver decided it was way too hot and has holed up in an ice-cream shop somewhere instead. I couldn't even really blame them if they had, it's nasty out there π€£
Edit: I'm not too far off, the driver apparently called in sick. Groceries will be delivered this afternoon, so whilst the communication from Coles has been dreadful at least they are still coming today.
I've had reliability issues with Coles click and collect recently, with no communication. Woolies on the other hand communicate all the time with any issue.
House is currently so hot objects inside the house have begun to grow warm to touch.
I'm so bloody glad I have aircon. That said, not feeling very productive...
TIL French press is just a fancy word for plunger.
I sometimes forget to say plunger when talking about my coffee and say French press instead, I often get funny looks when I do that.
Guess it's too fancy of a name.
I thought it was some new posh coffee apparatus then I looked it up and saw it was just a plunger. I have one sitting on my kitchen cabinet as an ornament.
Was thinking about hitting the beach but experience tells me that wind will ruin your day.
It reminds of the time I went to Kalbarri in WA few years back (lovely place can recommend) went to the beach and wind was huuuge. Sand was hitting my shins with extraordinary vigour and it left a mark on them for a few years. Completely destroyed my shin modelling career.
Sandblasting is no joke.
edit: and look who decided to look after the chillo patch:
Anytime I see them there is a squeal of delight. These things whilst pretty are apex monsters of the bug world. If I were an aphid I wouldn't be buying a long playing record.
Fricken worried about the fire risks today. Im an hour from home (assuming the trains work). Mrs is 20/30 minutes drive. Were in the suburbs so we should be totally fine, but it is close to Gippsland too.
My candle burns at both ends;
It will not last the night;
But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends-
It gives a lovely light!
Invest in a picture to put in the attic.
I like those Chris' Dips that come in the little terracotta pots. However, don't get them delivered if you order groceries online. I think they spend a bit too much time in the back of the truck out of the fridge. They can be one of the few reasons I leave the house to buy groceries.
Mine is bread. They always manage to squish it
I always get dented cans and things close to expiry
Yep. Cream that won't even last the week is pretty standard.
Miss Meow is "helping" with the sewing
Such a helpful girl!
First actual day in the office for the year today. Picked a doozy. Also I forgot to pack my USB desk fan :(
If you're a fan of Mrballen then good news is he's back on all podcast platforms now.
He's a great story teller, it was a shame he went sub-only, but he's got to make a living like the rest of us. I can only find his new pod 'Medical Mysteries' but not his true crime series.
All his back catalogue is definitely back. He had a short message on medical mysteries and when I checked it was all there. I use castbox for my podcasts but it's on Spotify too.
Who's ready to roast a fkn live again!
Top of the list for the next house, proper A/C and ventilation.
Everybody has had their brains cooked. An asleep boyo informed me he need to go walk the crayfish.
Channelling the Mock Turtle's song in Alice in Wonderland. Given that lobsters and crayfish are pretty much the same.
"Will you walk a little faster?" said a whiting to a snail. "There's a porpoise close behind us, and he's treading on my tail. See how eagerly the lobsters and the turtles all advance! They are waiting on the shingle β will you come and join the dance? Will you, won't you, will you, won't you, will you join the dance?
"You can really have no notion how delightful it will be, When they take us up and throw us, with the lobsters, out to sea!" But the snail replied "Too far, too far!" and gave a look askanceβ Said he thanked the whiting kindly, but he would not join the dance. Would not, could not, would not, could not, would not join the dance.
"What matters it how far we go?" his scaly friend replied. "There is another shore, you know, upon the other side. The further off from England the nearer is to Franceβ Then turn not pale, beloved snail, but come and join the dance? Will you, won't you, will you, won't you, won't you join the dance?
My complaint about the heat is being up all night pissing after smashing water all day.
Aahhh have a newbie who needs the office because they haven't got home internet sorted and I need to go in too to be a good team leader and not make them the only team person braving the weather but I DON'T WANNA go out there....
I hope they have good air condiitoning at your work. That'd be the only saving grace.
They do and it's very pleasant now I am actually here.
